corporate limits of the city of Blootnington, Indiana, are hereby notified to cut and destroy all weeds and noxious vegetation in the streets and alleys adjaecnt to or opposite satd real estate, and to remove all filth and garbage, ef whatever character, from about said real estate on or before the 1st day of August, 1889. Any one failing so to do by the said 1st day of August. 1880, will be prosecuted in accordance with the provisions of the ordinance of said city, and this shall be final notice to such' owners, occupants and agents, as provided by said ordinances. C- Whisnand will ask the commissioners to grant him license to sell liquor in the new iron building recently erected by Frank Dybsoo. Allen's farm consists of 153 acres, and is to be bought for $75 per acre; Fee's farm contains 215 acres and is held at 850 per acre, The Allen land joins the city limits at the northeastern corner, and the Fee land kins the A Hep land on the east. The township trustees made their annual settlement with the county commissioners last week, and the commissioners then vuuted the uortb pike to learn how much damage had been done to it by the recent heavy raius. . At the laying of the corner stone of the Soldiers' Monument on the 22d, the 70th Ind. will bold a reunion. Geo. Thornton is the only surviving member of the 70th in this locality. Chas. Alexander and Ed. Hall returned from Martin county last week looking ten ycats . younger. This improvement however they attribute to the time spent at Trinity. Springs, which they prefer to any other. They report nearly 100 guests at Trinity. Some parties, one night recently visited the residence ot Geo. Payne jr., and in the capacity of "regulators" administered a severe admonition to that gentleman. Mr. Thos. Oliver, a prominent citizen of Benton tp., was also recently admonished in like manner to mend his ways. Marshall & East will be the only firm in Biooniington that has had the nerve to push the stone business, having secured a channeler for their stone quarry. There is just as good stone in Bloom -ington as can be found -anywhere in this or Lawrence county, and ihcre is no reason why it should not be quarried. A Chicago dealer was in town last week and contracted to buy all the stone Messrs. M. & E. could take out, Ab. Dowdep, J. M. Carmichael and StanU Thrasher own a spoke factory near Stanford, and on Wednesday afternoon last the boiler exploded, resultiug in the death of Henry Fowler, a son of Pat. Fowler. The boiler was in good condition, so far as is kuown, and Jim Strunge, who acted as fireman and engineer in the absence of the regular engineer, stated that he had tested the gusge just previous to the explosion and that it stood two gnages of water. Strange says the fi'6t thing, that be knew he was knocked dowa, and then heard some one scream in the direct ioo of the pond in front of him ; he then saw a man's head rise above the surface ; he rushed in and dragged the body out and it proved to be that of Fowler, who had been thrown about fifty feet by the explosion, and into the water. Fowler was carrying water in buckets and emptying them in a barrel that stood near the boiler, and it ia presumed that the explosion occurred while he was at or near the barrel, His injuries were in the abdomen principally and he lived but a few minutes after he was taken from the water. The others, some five or six in number, were not injured seriously. ' The boiler wnfl torn to pieces, and will be a total loss. The funeral of Fowler occurred ou Thursday, and was l-b'e'y attended.

The barn contained tlOO worth of hay, and four stacks of hay across the road were aim bur ned. The granary is 75 feet away from the barn, and it was found that several sheafs of oats bad been carried from a field near by, placed in the granary and ignited, lot the beech timber of which the building was constructed would not take fire easily and it smouldered and had died out.
