Woven Wire and Plcketf
rence. Editor IndiHns Farmer. Mr. Chasf' Anthony of this place h-jB just completed 210 rods of a woven picket fence that for real servicedurability, cheapness and looks are superior to any other kind of feme we have ever seen. He had the posts set 3 feet in depth and 8 feet apart. About, every fifteen rods be had extra heavy p iits set in and well braned each way. The pickets are 4 feet long nnd 2xj inches. He hired an experienced man who furnished his own machine to weave (4 strands 8 wires) and brace tbe fence, for 20c. per rod. He braced it so that ii will never swap- in the middle of the panel by simply fastening a wire to the top ot the hrst post then drawing it down to the middie of the panel and then leaving a double hook in the fnrni of a let ter S, the lower part of this hook catching the lower strand Of wire and the brace wire passing through the upper part of the hook and on up to the top of the next post where it was securely fastened by a staple. The fence will turn anything from a chicken to a brenchy hall. We know about this rt f
it for we have been trying both thcjTb()inM Hagini,
ciitcktns ana me null on tins lence. Again, should a post rot off another can he put in the same place bv simply cutting the staples, or can lie set hetde the old one. The pickets are sold here at $4 tier thonrand. and it takes about S3 pickets to the rod. We have been able to figure that this fence cost Mr. a. more man ouc. a rna. It is true there are woven fences and woven fences. Some we have seen with 3 strands put tip in a slip-shod mnnner aud having a craxv appearance generally. Butrtherc is a machine and a way to make this a cheap and perfect fence and it all rests with the builder as to bow he will have it fione. I4.. C. Inflnence on their aide. Wntbingtnn Special.
