The solo on the clarinette by the white hair ed veteran, Thomas Ryan, was pleasing performance, as the tones were devoid of tbe "pig under the fence squeal,'' wbwb i so often tor tured from that versatile instrument. The violin solo Herr Ohiiger was uncommonly fine viewed from the standpoint of those who know how difficult tbe positions and bow ings are,and as a matter of fact, ike most of tbis class of music, bad more of execution and less of music than is appreciated by the mass of listeners. Herr Hekkings fantasias upon that seemingly clumsy instru mentthe violoncello, were something .wonderful, so easily and gracefully did be handle it, and its voice-like notes will haunt those musically inclined, many, days after the concert is forgotten.
