There seems to be pretty gen

this part ol the countv are growing eolder every year. It used to be the rarest thing for the thermometer to get below the zero point, but of late years that is considered a common occurrence. A farmer sells his hogs at
453.75 to 4.00 grofs, and not to
exceed ?5 00 a bunrtrert net. J.ne hogs are shipped to Cincinnati, and in two or three weeks they come back in the way of cured meats,nd if the same farmer wants to buy back the hams of his hogs, he must pay fourteen rents a pound.

Trie Electrical Railway
Minneapolis. The Electrical Review contains
an interesting account of the euccesfnl operation ot the electrical railway in Minneapolis, in which it says: "The trains consist of three nr fnnr nasseno-er cars, each weieh-
in2 11 tons empty. The number of
passengers carried is oiten as nign
aa 600 at one time, so that the
weight of the train is as follows :
Four cars, each 1 1 tons. 44 tons:
600 nasseneers. at 130 nounds, 39
tons; motor, 8 tons; total 91 tons.
The steam dummy now brings tbe train tn us far as the steam is allow
ed, and the electric motor relieves
it and takes the train down town
with its nafuenorers. The distance
.... 1-- rover which the electric motor travels
is at present somewhat near a mile, the speed being about seven miles
an hour, this being the regulation aneed within the citv limits. Con-
s'nWino- the constant stooniner and
. ....;-,!
starting at each block, the grades in the road, and the heavy trains, the electric motor must be given
the credit of doing at least as good work as could be expected or obtained from any steam engine. During the seventeen or eighteen hours
of service, not a single minute 01 stoppage is made except to let oS j and take on passengers. This electric road has been in operation for several weeks without a hitch or breakage. The motor, which is about forty horse-power, works as perfectly uuder a heavy as under a
light loan, brom the permanency and the character of the work done by this electric railway, it will be seen ihat electrio railways on elevated as well as on ordinary roads must become facts in the immediate future. They are indeed now with ns, and there is is no more trouble to build 200 or 300 horse-power generators than to build machines of fifty horse-power. The public is losing its skepticism, and what was proclaimed as impossibility yesterday has become a fact to-day."
