On last Thursday afternoon

the usual families held their annual

pic nic in Mathers' grove below

Clear Creek ; the Loudens, Woodburns, Wilsons, Wylies, Arnotts

and Blairs and Jtev. JUyons were the families renresented. Prof.

McMillan and wite, ot Monotonia,

and Sam. Curry and wife were

among the number. In carriages

and buggies the crowd went down

the west pike four miles south, to

the grounds where they have pic

nieked for several successive years, and old and young alike enjoyed th romn in the woods for the stf-

ternoon. A history of their former

picnics was read by Miss Delia Wvlie. and a letter to the crowd

from W. P. McNary who had been

v!rh thpm in these excursions in

all the previous years. A good! many reminiscences and pleasant ; times wore recalled by these papers. At lunch, some of the outer pickets captured a stray "old settler," in the person of Henry Dillroan and brought him into camp, and made him take a little of their hard tack. The games, hatball, horseshoes.croonet. fox and ceese, and the ramble

to the' railroad bridge were indulged in as usual. The drive down
