Township Assessor Gabbert found 200 dogs in Bloomington township. D. A. Ellison has been elected superintendent of Lawrence county. Mr. Ellison is a graduate of Indiana University. W.J. Allen, wife and three children left Bloomington last Tuesday a week to visit relatives in Kansas. They are expected to return to-day. Miss May Seward, of Bloomington, spent a portion of last week with her sister, Mrs. W. C. Snyder, in Campbellsburg, Washington county. -Jas. B. Mulky and wife left Bloomington on Wednesday last on a visit to relations and friends in Iowa and Kansas. They expect to be gone about two months. The through freight trains will not carry passengers for love, money, or tickets. So if you do not wish to be dumped into tbe mud and often into outer darkness, keep off the. through freights. The freight trains that do local work will carry passengers as heretofore. The political pot will be kept boiling at Columbus, no less than five political state conventions being called to meet in that city between the 5th and 21st days of June. The Republicans met on the 5th and 6th, the Woman Suffragists meet on 12th and 13th, the Greenbackers on the 13th. the Prohibitionists on tbe 14th, and the Democrats on the 21st.

Some needed and substantial
improvements are being made in the county clerk's office. When completed, it will be one of the neatest, (as it is already the most
systematically conducted) clerk's
office in the state.

excursion contract, several years ago, was decided against the railroad company in supreme court last week. The amount in contro
versy is about $200.
Tobe Smith has completed the
extension to his store-room, on the south side, and is rapidly getting his stock in shape. Traveling
men are surprised to see so large

ware line, in a town no larger than

Gray Harry, the well known
stallion belonging to John F. May, died on Monday morning with
lung fever.
Prof. Van Nuys was last week
presented with a handsome goldheaded cane, by the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
It was quite refreshing to see
an artistically arranged and cleanly
printed program for the '78 class re-union. It was printed in the
Columbus (Ind.) Democrat office,
and was so much superior to the daubs usually distributed at this
College as to induce much fnvor-
able comment.
It ia rumored that Sunday
trains will again be placed on the
"Monon" route. Perishable freight
passed over the road last Sunday lumber, portable engines, eta., etc.
Whenever it will pay a railroad
company to run a train, you may
very reasonably expect it to be run Sunday or no Sunday.

The many warm friends of
Dick Houston were shocked at the news of his death, which occurred on Monday night a week. Deceased was for some time a popular salesman in tbe Bee Hive dry goods store, and was generally liked.
