The Cincinnati Exposition it seems has been removed to clothing house of Ben. McGee, in Bloomington. Such a display of handsome piece goods, perhaps has never before been seen in a Bloomington establishment, and his supply of new styles in ready made goods far outstrips anything imagined by ordinary buyers, His handsome store room on the south side of the square, is now a complete "Fair," and so great has been the throng of buyers since the arrival of the goods, that much of it was never placed on the shelves they bought from the boxes, just as the goods were unpacked. Bale after bale of domestics,
car-load after car-load of boot and shoe boxes, and fine dress goods in scores of heavy packages, have been rolled into the spacious doors of the New York Store. This is a notable stock of goods, one that is sure to receive the attention of buv-

Miss Emma Robertson, who during the past six mouths has been visiting relations and friends in Indianapolis and Paris, Ills., has arrived at home. The "Villas," always favorites in Bloomington, drew crowds to Mendelssohn Hall, last Wednesday and Thursday nights. Sam B. is an immensity himself, aud his company throughout is well balanced and effective. The brass baud is very superior, and taken altogether the Villa troupe is as good tui one as travels. Villa always draws full houses here and pays twenty per ce.ni:. interest on the money invested by his audience. John Hunter and wife, of Sanborn, Knox co. were visiting family and friends, last week. There are some pretty clever fellows among the passengers (t he late Democratic county candidate") and they will doubtless have a pleasant trip. They had a choice, plentiful supply of provisions aboard, taken from the supper prepared by one of the candidates who thought himself elected last Wednesday morning. Oh, agony ! Fair Haven, Or An., jias a case of poisoning by an ailanthut tree. A woman twenty years old has been attacked with an eruption on ber Ueaiand face, which is attributed to breathing tbe odor of the blossoms, and the dctor is satisfied s to the cause. As m experiment, a small shoot springing from the root of the tree had been broksn off, and the end tabbed on the wrist f a person, tbe spot tonchod not being laiger than a teneent piece. Tbe effect via to cause the hand and wrist to become badly swollen nd very mueh inflamed, with a burning sensation, the akin being covered with vesicles in patches. The woman affected by the poison had been born on the premises, and bad tbe same trouble every year when the tree was in llowei. Hie took tbe disorder by lying on the sofa near a window not f:ir from tbe tree. The eruption, was not accompanied by any feverish symptoms, such as loss of appetite or quickem:d pulsation. No effect appeared to be produced on the brain. Ailanthus trees have been planted in England for 130 years and in France for 120 years. They were started in this country by a speculator SO or 40 years ago, wlv sent packages of the seeds to every postmaster, giving bim a proportion of tbe packages for selling the rest, and he realized about $5,000 by tbe operation. Thus tbe trees were planted in every town in the United States, under tbe attractive name of tbe gride of Heavea - Tbe moistening of coal withtavfew to increase its heating effect is frequently practiced. Prohibition is the leading thought of the' day, and I am in favor of Prohibition. I buliovo that the mixing and sale of impure and poisonous liquors ought to be promptly prohibited. There are perhaps not three families in twenty that do not keep whisky in the house for somo real or fancied necessity, and no argument is needed to prove to them that this whisky, for which they pay a liberal price, and is dosud to the children and women, should be pure. I am prepared to prove to all who call on me tnat I k op whisky (and have a cpiart licensa just as your druggist has) that is unquestionably pure going direct from the distillery to the government warehouso, then to me. I will show tho Government stamps and receipts to prove this, and only ask that you will not poison yourself with tho rectified stuff that is often sold. AUGUST KKEUOKB.
