No better or fairer ticket

ever oftered to the people of Monroe county than is presented this

year by.the Republican party. Every ana oa the ticket is a representative man of the people. They are all aaen of character, of ability, and of ample qualifications for the positioBB to which they aspire. AH manner of mixed tickets have been printed to suit ike reqniwmeata of those who intend to "cross over" at the November elecr tiou. That mem have a right to vote for the persons of their choice it is nselem to deny, and it would make but little difference with the mass of the voters if it was denied. But what we desire to impress upon the minds of the voters, is that they should see to it that the aaaoes of the men of their, choice are on the tickets they place ia the ballot box. Yob know aaio you desire to vote for, and no man has the right to dictate toko yon shall vote far, Let no pains, noesort be spared, to cany the county. This you can do by polling the fall RepubJicaat vote. See to it that this is done. Procure conveyances to bring the sick, the old and the infirm, to the polls, aad wateh the list eajremlly to ascertain that no mas overlooked before the potts are dosed.

Major Sbs Grimes has made good Sheriff. Elect him aranu Abo, vote for Wall. Browning for Clerk, because he dtsu iiro well at the hands of bis friends, and will make such a model officer that yon will feel proud to know that year vote helped to elect him. The "expert" tax hunting business has turned oat to be a barefaced swindle and syiiteaaatised species of blackmail and robbery, in Maries county, cs it has keen every where else. In many counties every official who has became a party to or in any way countenanced it, will be promptly defeated at the polls. There is said to be some "dirt" ia the back tax aeamtments of Monroe county, laM Spring. Smveer Republican : Rev. W. P. McNary lectured at the Presbyterian church last night to aa attentive audience. It was a very interesting and entertaining lecture. He presented facts aad arguments that cannot be controverted. He is a prohibitionist, and in fauer of adopting the prohibitory amendment. He is therefore in favor of

submission. The presence of tem

perance Democrats was conspicuously thin. About a year ago it uroald have been better.

give him a little assistance.

Oaft. Makt. Alexahder, the

Republican candidate for County Auditor, was a brave soldier dur

ing the rebellion. He is a No. 1

man in every particular boueet, upright, aecomtDodating, and at the same time modest and unassuming.

He has old friends and acquaint

The Surveyor's office is general

ly considered of not much impor

veying to do it is just as essential

to have a man who understands his business as to have a skillful physi

cian in sickness. M. H. Buskirk is

the man.

Fob District Prosecutor jour fel

low-citizen, Joseph . Henley is the Republican candidate. He is an educated gentleman, a thorough

lawyer, and will discharge his duties fearlessly.

Silas Gbimes is a citizen of

Clear Creek township. He is a

farmer, a christian gentleman, and

combines all the qualifications of a

popular and painstaking officer. He is the candidate for the office

of Sheriff and asks the support of

Republicans in every township. He

is a man who improves upon ac

quaintance those who know him

best are most confident of his ability and of his sore success. Cast a

vote for Silas Grimes for Sheriff and

return one of the best officers that

has filled that responsible position.

Don't forget that all manner of

contemptible, lying reports, will be

put in circulation for the purpose of

injuring candidates on the Repubh

every one, and all injurious reports must be regarded with suspicion,

coming at this late Lour.

A Bio fight has been inaugurated

by the opposition, against Wall.

Browning, Republican candidate

for County Clerk. If swapping or

trading will not have the desired

effect, money will be placed where it

will "do the most good. This

scheme must be circumvented.

See to it that buggies, carriages or wagons, are prepared to bring the old, the infirm, and the sick, to the polls. Let not a solitary Republican vote remain unpolled when

the sun sets, on Tuesday, the 7th of

November, 1832.

It is amazing, the stories hatched

op by the opposition against some

of our candidates. Look out for

fresh, .new batch of them, on the

day before the election, made out of

thin tissues of falsehood. Nothing is too desperate for them to resort to now. Don't be pursuaded to believe all or a part of the stories

they tell.

If you want to feel well satisfied

over the result of your efforts,

Tuesday, November 7tb, see that

vour ticket contains the name of

Wall. Browning. The opposition

have begun a systematic course of j

lying upon Wall, with the hope of

defeating him at the lost moment.

Gbimes, the candidate for Sheriff, is an-honest, upright man, who will make a careful, painstaking

and aoiommodating officer, and his

friends should watch the scheme set

to defeat him by swapping off.

Wat- N. Haix, the gentlemanly

candidate for Recorder, on the Re

publican ticket, will make the rec

ord of your deeds and mortgages.

He will be elected.

You have a good ticket. Republicans. There are no better men in the State than Grimes, Hall, Buskirk, Alexander, Browning, Harrell, Burton well, all of them. It is a good ticket from first to last.

They are every one such men as would honor any party or people. They are such men as yon ought to feet proud of electing. They are such men as will do their duty fearlessly aad conscientiously. There

are no exceptions. They are all first-class, trustworthy men. . A CACTKHt. So great is the desperation of the Democratic leaders, ta view of their approaching doom, that is believed in some localities they will pay no regard to Republican challenges of illegal voters, and will even refuse to issue or execute warrants for the arrest of offenders or will neglect to do so until it is too late to prevent the mischief of illegal voting. If this should be the case in any locality it will be the duty of Republicans aad friends of fair play and lawful elections to exercise the God-given right of freemen. Let the Republicans show their manliood. Let them show that they know their rights and kaowtog dare maintain them. We say to you then spot every illegal voter, exercise every lawful means to keep him from voting. Organise for that purpose and stand together as one man in defense of yur rights and the faithful execution of the law, ,

Scan your ticket closely, when

voting on Sheriff, and if it reads

for Sheriff, Silas Grimes, you may

feel satisfied that you are voting for

the best interests ot Monroe county.

Good neighborhood workers are

more valuable to any party than average long winded speech makers. Republicans should understand theritustion. They can only stuo-

closing of tbe polls on election day. Our opponents are desperate and

unscrupulous, and will stop at nothing to achieve success. If Repub

licans wish to avert the calamity of

a Democratic victory they must

work harder than they ever worked

before, and must not relax their ef

forts till the last vote is in, nor their watchfulness till tbe last vote

is counted. Money, fraud and tbe circulation of stories without foun

We can beat tbem with legitimate weapons, but to this end there must

The Democrats of Monroe county have now thoroughly organised their party, and will spare no effort to secure success. Should they conclude, before tbe dav of election.

that it is impossible to elect their entire county ticket they will then

concentrate their trading and swap

It will not do for Republicans to
