N. A. & C. railroad, in New Albany, are to be removed to Lafayette. They give employment to

about 120 mechanics and laborers men and boys. The company say

the removal is necessary on account of the . remoteness of New Albany from the center of the line. The sale of pcrsoual property

of the estate of Jacob G. Chambers, at Harrodsburg, last Thursday, was

a success. Everything offered sold

Most of our readers will remember W.H.Stowe's Show which visited this place list summer, with

six (ages of animal s and a very fair circus. The show embarked on a

steamer from New Orleans, and

neat Memphis the- boat caught fire.

The flames spread rapidly and twenty-three persons were burned and

drowned, including all the animals.

in this community as a member of

ing, of heart disease. Mr. Pearson

removed to this place from Spring-

vil'.e, Lawrence co., in 1863, and

soon afterwards went into business.

He was an esteem ed citizen honest

and straightforward in all his deal

of all with whom he came in con tact. He was but 48 years old.

contract for the new building west of the Mullikin corner, his bid being 1,5)13. This will bo a brick ! building two story high, 38 It. front! by 42 ft. deep. The first floor will consist cf two good business rooms lull length of building. The second floor will be divided into offices, with a hall entrance on the cast side of the building. The front wall be finished in good style with circletop windows and doors. The roof will be of tin, and in fact the building will be first-class in every particular, thus adding much to the appearance of the street as well as to the value of the property. Seeing that the people of Monroe, Brown and Owen couuties were very much in need of an establishment at which feed and provisions could be secured in large quantities, Dunn & Co. have made arrangements to supply everybody that comes. (Trinity Springs), is now engaged in the same business in Shoals,

John Graham, local agent of

the Vandalia railroad, went to In

dianapolis, to-day, on business con

nected with the road, Grundy Duun, Walter Robertson and John Sears are making arrangements to remove to Missouri

some time during the summer.

Wm. P. Rogers and E. Belle Clark, both of t his city, were united in marriage latit Tnursday afternoon at o'clock. The ceremony occurred at the Walnut street Presbyterian church,, and was performed by Rev. Thomas Clarki brother of the bride, who was assisted by Rev. J. A, Bower and Elder A. B. Philputt. The attendants were Prof, Hoffman

and Jos. E. Henley. The ceremony was
