Ocb rest is ixw, our expenses are light, and we bny goods as
cheaply as aoy other firm in town. So we have concluded to remain where we are, in the Farmer corn
er, and will sell bargains to our
numerous customers and personal friends. We bny all the merchantable produce brongbt to our store, and pay either cash or goods as our customers prefer. No firm keeps a more choice selection of goods or sells them at a smaller margin than we do, and we only ask an inspection of stock and an investigation of onr prices. Come to the Farmer corner and see us. J. K. Asdeksox & Co.
Physicians v-ery ofteh prescribe, at this time of year, medicines that fcavs for their basis pure I randy or whisky. If the patient gts imjHjre sphjts lhwe made poisonous by dishonest city rectifiers the effect is Tary harmful. A reputation for securing and selling only pure and unadulterated liquors, is worth t orae-.hinp to a man. Such a reputation Augtst Kieuger has earned by many years of experience, and persons who require whisky or brandy for medicinal purposes, rimy tss assured that when tbey bny it of Kreujer, they get it as it comes from the distilUry, without any doctoring. J. C. Dolan, the stave buyer, returned to Bloomington last Wednesday, after a pleasant visit among friends in Chicago. A. B. Tresslar left Bloomington on Thursday, for Chicago, and will doubtless secure a lew "points' in 1 imber and wheat. A 2d National Bank is talked : of at Bedford, with u capital of $100,000. There is no lack of; capital iu Lawrence county. j The morning freight lrorn the soulh now parses this station at 7 a.m., and singular to relate, has been on time frequently of late. Seems that a lodging house is about to be established inside the hitching rack, northeast corner of the court house fence. The bedsteads are already on the ground, and it is expected thtt the other furniture will arrive in due time. On Friday, Mrs. Taylor, Directress of the Mendelssohn Society, went to Incianupolis to witness the performance of ''Olivette," by tbe
j Emma Abbott opera company. It
is the present intention, of the Society to rehearse ."Olivette." There is n squad of ten men at work in the Dunn quarry, east of town. Thirteen carloads of stone arc quarried ard ready for shipment, though it will be impossible to hiiul from the quarry to the railroad till Spring. Parties in Chicago who buy the stone are impatient for its shipment. Mr. Kodgers came to Bedford
a year or two ago, and bought a
fifth interest in the qmrry business of Rodgers, Voris dfc Co. He had
no capital, it is stated, when he went
there, but last week he sold his fifth
for $7,000 after having cleared ?3,000 on the year's business.
The chicken pie supper given

excellence. . The wife of Postmaster McPheeters went to Terra Haute on Wednesday last, in response to a telegram announcing the death of her step-father, Mr. O'Boyle, a well known leather dealer of that city. A number of accounts have been sent out from this office recently to persons who are in arrears.
As no response has been made we desire to say that this is not a joke we are in dead earnest in deairing

An Important Notice. Judge Wilson has directed the Clerk to have the Grand Jury appear on the first day, and th Petit Jury on ihe fourth day of the February Term, 1882, of Monroe circuit court. To set all criminal cases on the docket for trial on the 4th day of the Term ; that the trial of civil
cases will begin on the 5,lh day of l
the term. That defendants in State cases will be required to appear on the first day of tho Term, as heretofore, for the purpose of hearing motions, etc. That all matters on .the Probate tlocket will be disposed of during the the first three days of the term. No mail from the soulh last Wednesday, "mail agent got left," was the excuse. In almost any other branch of business the agent would "get left" permanently for his carelessness. Sam.
