Some time ago Dr. Abraham Smith, of this place, undertook to eject a tenant named Clark, (a former resident of Owensburg, Greene co.), from bis premises. When be attempted to take out a trunk, Mrs. Clark resisted and, she alleges, Smith jammed the trunk against her, inflicting injuries for which suit was brought against Smith in circuit court. The trial begun last Wednesday afternoon, and on Thursday morning a compromise was effected, by which Smith paid Clark Si 50, aud each party agreed to pay bis own costs. An exchange laments the fact that while school children are drilled week after week on tbe geography of foreign countries, not one in a dozen has the least idea about the general location of towns and cities in the State, and the railroads it would be necessary to take in going from one point to another.
