Three or fonr houses have been entered by burglars during the past ten days. Thos. Allen's, Mrs. Gregory's and James Howe's residences were burglarized among others. There was a select parly at the Stone spring last Wednesday night, at which w'aisky and fighting were the principal attractions. If people will hive that kind of amusement it is very proper that tbey should go outside the city to secure it. " Aleniand left ; balance partners. " Sunday a week an excursion train to the camp meeting at Battle Ground carried an extraordinary number of rough characters. Both men and women were said to be drunk, and their conduct on the train would have disgraced a bull fight. These people were on their way to a religious meeting a camp meeting. The frame building formerly occupied by Heory Hewson and removed to a lot in the Dunn addition, was discovered to be on fire the night it reached its destination, and together with the ropes and pulleys belonging to Stephen McPhetridge, was soon reduced to ashes. A detective has been employed to unravel the myBtery connected with the fire. Drury Hodges, who resides iu Thos. Rogers' house, in the Dunn addition, had a narrow escape one day last week during a thunderstorm. Lightning struck a post of the porch ' on which he stood, tore off a baseboard and shook him up at a lively rate, but he sustained no serious injury. This is the second time this summer that lightning has struck in that locality. Last week Z. T. Coffin sold to Samuel Kerrj a house and lot on

were five retail saloons in this town

at present there is but one licensed saloon here. How is it at Green -castle, where Asbury University, is

Daniel Royce, Clerk of the

door drops from beneath his body,

bearing testimony that he has gone

chattering bosh and manpiety we

have no patience or sympathy.
