For Thirty Years. Far thirty years Syisjtar1 Balaam of Wild Cherry has been fcept for sale by druggists generally, and in all that time there has not ben a single complaint made, but on the contrary the druggists and the people acknowledge
t to be the best remedy for the cure of
Coughs, Colds, Consumption, Bronchitis, Asthma, and all lung diseases. A Queer Kotion.M&nj peaple thinjc it cheaper to buy 25 cent sizes of proprietary medicine. But they make a mistake. For instance, 2r. Wistar's Bajsam of Wild (Cherry contains about eight times the quantity of ordinary cough balsams. Besides it takes a less quantity of Wistar's Balsam to $ure a cold. A single dose is often sufficient. For deep seated colds and Consumption it has proven itself to be .the best and quickest cure ever discovered. Sow is the Time, Don't wait till you are nearly dead and bed-rid4en. Don't wait until you have found, to your sorrow,
that mineral poisons and alcoholic stimu

It 'never fails to cure all Mood and skin diseases, pX liver complaints and urinary troubles. XWt Make a Mistake. Why will you nee salves and lotions, and other oi it ward appliances for the cure of skin diseases? The relief thus obtained can only be temporary. Why not strike at the root of all skin diseases by getting your blood and liver in a healthy, visorous condition? This can only be done effectively and thoroughly by the nse of Dr, Guysott's Yellow pock and .tia rat pari! lt.
The biggest boom in Bloomington at the present time is at the Fancy Bazar, on the south side of the square. It surprises every one who for the first time sees Tobe Smith's immense and varied stock. Lvervthing- is beautiful, rich aud

Voss, in Lindley s Drug Store, and note the number and variety of watches that are brought there for surgical treatment. Not only does he repair and regulato watches, hut he sells some of the best grades that are brought to this place. Williams, Levi Leitz, James Bratney, Michael George and John Gil more. It is sad, but true, the statemen that of the nine U.S Supreme Judges, but three are Ohio men. It was an Ohio man, too, who nailed the tongue of his nine-year-old boy to the side of the barn, and then at intervals pounded him for six hours because he went out to coast contrary to orders. Henry Tell, living near Guth rie, over the line in Lawrence co., has been playing "dummy" on his uususpecting neighbors during the past four years. He has doubtless heard some very uncomplimentary remarks about himself. James Williams, of Stinesviile, has changed his saw mill business from stone to wood. He is now sawing lumber. Wood is sawed into lumber now that was hardly noticed ten years ago. Showers Bros, are having gum, beech and sugar tree sawed into lumber. The
beech is used for rails and the gum for posts in the manufacture of bedsteads. Gum plank is worth 1.40 per thousand. Robert Strong, Deputy Sheriff, is having a monument made, at Stinesviile, from the celebrated marble found in that locality. The work is being done by McHcnry & Voss . Th e monument will be placed over the grave of Mr.Strong's mother.
In a boarding house less than a thousand miles from the Progress office, one night recently, a batch of light bread was set In the pantry to "rise." Bedtime came and all retired all, at least, save a pet kitten, who prowled about and got into the pan, try, and, finding the pan of bread, lay down thereon and went quietly to sleep. The dough yielded gradually, and slowly but surely the kitten was engulfed, the batter closing over and leaving no sign. When the breakfast hour came the bread was brought in hot. Imagine the scene when that loaf was brokeq open ! Kitten pie; yum ! yum ! The compositor made a mistake in putting the potato item in type last week. Instead of 1,200 bushels it should read 120,000. We insist upon accuracy in these matters. The Auditor advertises to let contraots for building stone abutments for bridges at Johnson's and Goodman's fords, on Salt Creek. Also the letting of the Poor Farm on the 7th of March next. Dr. Heard left this place, going north, after remaining here about two weeks. He did not secure any business. People are not as verdant hero as he supposed. On the 2d page will be found a letter from Mart. Alexander, dated Waldo, Florida. The same page also contains a few lines from Guymas, Mexico, They will repay reading, John H. Cole has returned from Kentucky, after a. stay in the blue grass region of several months. Attorney General Baldwin has decided that married women have a right under the law to execute mortgages on their separate property not acquired by descent, devise or gift, provided her husband join without her. This is an important decision and will put at rest the doubts of county Auditors as to whether they can loan school funds to married women holding separate property of their own. Says an exchange; Thcchlld that is well trained at home is never a bad child in sohool, but always acts like a gentleman. Lack of parental restraint in a mild, pleasant, firm, truly parental manner, is a great cause rowdyism. Our barbers charge lightningrod men but five cents a shave, in consideration of, the privilege of honing the razors on their cheek. Veteran book agonts are shaved for nothing. -Win, Bajrymple of the famous grain farm in Dakota, says that the clean profit for 1880 wasS35O,O0O, He raised more than a half a million bushels of wheat on 24,000 acres, and disposed of it in Buffalo at a profit of 50c. a bushel. A prominent farmer of Laporto county says that the wheat crop in that region can be bought for $2 per acre, so badly is it damaged by freezing. Now if they had been treated to such snow falls as Monroe county has had, Northern Indiana would be many hundreds of thousand dollaxs better off,
A preliminary call will soon be issued for a convention of Monroe county grass widows. It was at first proposed to hold the convention during the month of January, but the great difficulty experienced in securing a room sufficiently large to accommodate all has resulted in a postponement till June, when the
convention will assemble in one of
the beautiful groves adjacent to this city. In the meantime a complete enrollment of the membership will be prepared. If the Rothschilds were to withdraw their capital and commercial credit from Germany, Yawcob aud Johannes would be reduced to the necessity of using weinerwurst for currency, A gay young dog (yellow) from the couutry, after inspecting the interior of the Bee Hive grocery store last Saturday, made a dash for the front window, shot through one of the largo panes, and as a bystander remarked, " never techt a bar." This is the second of these dog-oned pane-ful events that have occurred at this store. Plenty of coal now. Mr. Hughes has finally made arrangements by which he is assured of a regular supply, Newt. Di Giles S. Mitchell (Buck) is one of the growing young physicians of Cincinnati. He has a large practice, and is one of the assistant Professors in the Ohio Medical College. Mr. James II. Nahb is still disabled from his fall nearly a year ago down the hatchway of a manufacturing establishment in Cincinnati. He is not able to work, and it is not expected that he ever will be. The suit for damages against the proprietors of the factory has not yet been tried. Mr. W. L. Carter and family of Shelby ville, Ind., have moved to Cincinnati, and are now living on Walnut Hills. Mrs. Carter's mother, Mrs. Mary Legg, sister to Milton and Wallace Hight of this city, resides with her. Mr. Carter is a wide-awake and enterprising business man. Mrs. J. J. Hight, formerly of this place, now of Cincinnati, after having been in poor health for several years has been completely restored. She lived on an exclusively milk diet, without water or any kind of solid food, for seven months. Mrs. Julia Thompson, widow of the late Col. James Thompson, well known in this community, is residing in the old family mansion in Newport, Ky. It was there that she was raised, and has the esteem of a large circle of relatives and friends. Prof. George Parrott formerly of Indiana State University, is still connected with the Parrott Plow manufacturing establishment of
Dayton, Ohio. Some people seem to be alarmed at the prophecy of Mother Shipton that the world is coming to an end in " eighteen eighty-one." This nervousness is entirely uncalled for

According to Mother Shipton's prophecy, April 17th will be the last day of this world's existence everything earthly is to drop into space : dowu f down ! oh, it is terrible! To think, too, how many persons are delinquent subscribers to the Progress! The thought that these people will go to the "bad place" with this sin upon their records causes us to feel doubly sad once for them and once for the Progress. The Wallace-Villa troupe more than sustained their well-earned reputation by their performances in Mendelssohn Hall, Monday night. Sam, B. Villa is a show in himself, but he does not depend upon hiro self: he' brings with him a large and well-balanced company of actors and musicians. The orchestra is an important feature of the troupe this season, as is also the Band, and the latter makes a handsome street parade. The performances Monday night elicited continuous peals of laughter the situations were indescribably funny and the music was charming.
