Texas cattla thrive in Dakota and can be purchased very cheap in Kansas or Southern Nebraska the prices of vearlings being from $5 to 86 per liead, and young cows 10 to $15 per head. There is no better opening at the West than to engage in stock raising in a well selected place along the Missouri,
Big Sioux, Vermilion and Dakota Rivers, in Dakota Territory. Henry Ward Beecher wouldn't t'tnre at Michigan University for less than $1,000. The students finding that this would buy 10,000 glasses of beer, concluded to let him wouldn't. Amoxg the deaths of the yar -which is fast drawing to a close may be mentioned: Gm. An old German while on his way to Lafayatte on Saturday afternootr, froze his nose. While thawing the frost out 6f that very necessary member he remarked: "By tam.r I no understand dis ting. I haf carry dat nose forty-seven years and he never freezed hisself before!" Some seven or eight days ago Bob. Jenkins, a laborer on Dr. Williams' place at Bridgeport in this county, accidentally allowed one of the horses suffering from the the epizootic, to cough and sneeze in his face. Particles of the virus or corrupt matter, from the horses' nose or throat, fell upon the man's lips and some of them probably flew into his mouth. Since that time several ulcers have broken out on his lips and in his mojth; and he is also suffering a good deal from a swelling in his throat. The reported fatal termination of a somewhat similar case in Indiana, where the virus got into a fresh finger cut ahotiid admonish all to be extremely !reful in their dealings with diseased horses.
