Hoofland's German Bitters,
A Bittern without Alcortol or Spirits of my kind,
Is different from all others. Itiscomputied of j
the rraro juices or vitai. feixcipal of Roots, Hkuds, and livRta (or as medicinally toraieJ, extracts), the worthless or inert ports vn of the ingredient s not being need. Taer--rore, in one bottle of this Bittors there is contained as much medicinal virtue as will bo found in several gallons ,of ordinary niixtweH. The Boots, eta, used in this Bitters are grown in Germany, their vital principles extracted in that country by a ecientifio Chemist and forwarded to the manufactory in this city, where they are compounded and bottled. Containing no sptritnoiifdng redionts, this Bitters is free from the objections urged against all others, no desire for stimulants can be induced trom their use, they cannot make drunkard:, and cannot, under any circumstances, have any but a beneficial effect.
Hoofland's German Tonic
Was compounded for thoje not inclined to extreme bitters, and is intended for use in cases when some alcoholic stimulant is required in connection with the Tonic properties of the Bitters. Each bottle of the Tonic contains one bottle 3f the Bitters, combined with pure Santa Cbitz Rum, and flavored in such a manner that the extreme bitterness of the Bitters is overcome, forming a preparation h.ly agreeable and pleasant to the palato, and containing tho medicinal virtues of thj Bitters. The price of ttoj Tonic is $1.50 per bottle, which maiy pen ions think too high. They must take into consUeration that the stimulant used .8 guara.nteod to be of a pure quality. A poor article could be furnished at a cheaper price, bu ; isit not better to pay a little moro and have good article ? A medicinal preparation shou.d contain none bnt the best ingredients, and ;hey who expect to obtain a heap compound will most certainly be cheated. The j are the greatest Known Remedies For LTV-IR COMPLAINT, DYSPEPSIA, NERVOUS DEBILITY, JAUNDICE, DISEASE OP THE KIDNEYS, ERUPTIONS OF THE SKIN, and all thseaseea arising from a disordered Liver, Stomach, or IMPURITY OF THE BLOOD.

Wo lived fur away in the country in : rustic district. My fntlier wa.s postmaster of the little placu, and kept i few groceries for sale. Bnt he had enough to do to maintain hia family scantily and cloth them decently. 1 was sixteen, and housekeeper : my mother was dead, and I was the oldest of ns four children. The rest being younger, I strove to do my best for them. My one great trouble then was my clothes. Other young pjirls of ovr station that I associated with, dressed better than I cordd, and it grieved mo. Vanity begins earlier thnn that in the female heart I had made up and rmade every article of my mothei's wardrobe for the children and for mo, had worked up every shred to the best advantage ; and now that was all gone, and I did need a new dress for the coming winter. I made my shoes last as long again as other girls did, for I knew my father needed every sixpence he could earn, and I dreaded wanting anything. Not that lie was ever cross, but he often sighed, and looked so
I pained and sorrowful when I asked for i monev, that I tried to do with as lit sit?
as possible. But here it was the last of October ; my summer dresses, poor enough at ;U times, looked very thin and paltry now. One Saturday afternoon I shall never forget.
