letter from one r l the IV well Colorado exploring expedition states that Aztec "picture-writing" has been discovered upon the rocks near Tnifctdi, and that from there to the gulf traces of their ancient residences abound. As an example of the discoveries, the record of the 11th of last September will, be interesting-. On that day a party of three started in quest of the ruius. Climbing up and along a steep and narrow ledge, they came to a cluster of dilapidated
nouses, with but, six feet ot wall remaining. They found pisccs of pottery and fragments of arrow-beads, with occasional perfect specimens of the latter. One of the most interesting and valuable prizes wa in the form of an earthen jug, artistically fashioned, and iu an excellent state of preservation. It was hidden under a rock, with the mouth covered with i stone. The jar had a capacity of four or live gallon", and contained small bundles of split willows, used for b.ik ie1; com bread.
