On the 10th of February, as will be seen by a call in another column, the Republicans are to assemble in Mass Convention, for the purpose of selecting Delegates to the State Convention, r.nd also to elect and organize: a County Central Committee, to act during the campaign of 1872. So far as we are advised at present, Monroe County has no local ax to grind upoo the political wheel that is to revolve at Indianapolis on the 22.1 of February, and no suggestion is therefore necessary as to the Delegate matter. But in thc selection of a County Central Committee, there should be much discretion exercised. A dead Central Committee never yet infused life into a campaign ; endeavor to select live, active men men who will feel that thc success of the party is their individual interest, and nil will be well. Ve are glad to note the fact that as ye-t the Republican Party of Monroe county has no noisy, hungry aspirants for petty offices. This is a healthful indication, and if our people will continue to act with harmony, and unite upon a sound, unobjectionable ticket, Monroe county will again poll a full Republican vote.
