taken immediately after the adjournment of Circuit Court, as they arc given thirty days to appeal in, and then, by the recent ruling of the Supremo Court, Kreuger could not have sold liquor while the appeal was pending. Kreuger's attorneys were quick to comprehend this, and instead of bringing fonvard evidence to sustain his opplic;;tion, they introduced three of the most radical temperance men in the town, who of ccurse, testified that Kreuger was unfit to be entrusted with license. So his attorneys rested on this evidence, and admitted that their witnesses had not proved their client a proper man to sell liquor. Upon this, the attorneys for the Temperance Alliance, who now began to see the point, argued in the most persistent manner that Kreuger w.s a proper man to be licensed as a retailer, that he ought to; be liceused, and proved a splendid character for the applicant.
