"HOW DOTH THE BUSY CANDIDATES improve each shinning hour' especially on Saturday afternoons. Electioneering was lively on Saturday last. It was funny, painfully amusing, to observe the anxiety and earnestness exhibited by those who are backed by numerous friend3. It is all right, however, for it shows that these gentlemen feel the weight of responsibility which rests upon their shoulders, or will, if they should all receive nominations.

W. S. A. Members of the Woman's Suffrage Association of this city, are requested to meet at Dunn's Hall, on Friday night next, to tippoint Delegates to attend the Annual Meeting of the State Association, at Indianapolis, on the 8th and )b of June. A general invitation j.-. extended to the public,

from Bedford to New Albany. The Commissioners of M!onroe County will meet in regular stission, on Monday next. The Railroad Election petition, which was presented at the last regular session, is to be considered, among other important items: of business. By reference to Ordinance No. 31, published in to-day's paper, it will be seen that College Avenue is to be graded north, four squares from 6th street, or to 10th street. At the present rate of progress, all of our principal streets will be McAdamized within the next five years. At three o'clock on Friday morning, an alarm of fire was sounded, and slowly responded to, as the fire was about a mile south of the Court House. Our city covers so much ground that running to fires has become somewhat laborious. And now comes the rumor an authentic one we are sorry to say that another married man has deserted his family, within the past week, to accompany an unmarried woman upon her adventurous travels. How many does tiiis foot up, in. the past eight years. It will be extremely difficult to resist the inclination to vote for two or three of the candidates for each of the important county offices, at the Primary. The gentlemen announced are so generally ttnobjectionable, that it will be no easy task to discriminate between them. The Delegates to the Democratic Congressional Convention, contrary to the usual custom, were appointed by the Central Committee. The reason given is, that the members of the Committee know best who is sound on the Democratic "goose," and that their appointees would be unobjectionable. Consent. At Martinsville, last week, a former Democratic candidate for Attorney General, hailing from Greencastle, and acandidate for nomination to Judgeship of the Circuit Court, a resident of Morgan county, had a little unpleasantness, which culminated in a lively fight. our common humanity. After the services at the church were concluded, a processsion of soldiers and citizens, headed by the Bloomington Band, took up their line of march to the cemeteries, which were severally visited, and the graves properly dewrated. So Wall, is , candidate on the single term principle. Ho says he wants the office but two years,. Explanatory. We are in receipt of a note from Robert M. This explains its presence in the announcement column.
