A New Oemocratic Argument. The last argument resorted to by the Democracy, to procure the negro j vote is, that the Democratic party has
been the negroe's best friend, in this, to-wit : That when President Lincoln gave the Democrats sixty days to Jay down their arms, and preserve slavery, that they having the fear of God before their eyes (news to the world, and all mankind !) end the abolition of slavery in their hearts, refnsed so to do, but fought out bravely and without cessation the full sixty days, and thus heroically, gloriously and magnanimously, freed four millions of human beings from the bonds of Slavery ! "Sic semper tyrannus." So always, they would fight against the roasnianimitv of Mr. Lincoln to
The above is a correct picture of the Florence Sewing Machine, which is sold in Bloomington by Tobe Smith. Persons who desire a 9trictly first-class Machine, will find in the Florence all they could wish. Ita motions are all positive ; there are no springs to got out of order, and its simplicity enables the most inexperienced to operate it. It toes not require finer thread on the under than on the upper side, and will sew across the heaviest seams, or from one to more thicknesses of cloth, without change of needle, tension or breaking thread. It makes four different stitches with as much ease as ordinary machines make cue. and with as little machinery. Ech stitch being ajiko on both sides of the fabric. Call and examine the Machine, at Tobe's Jewelry Store. MePHEETEES, OF THE P. O. ICews Stand, has just received a large supply of Picture Frames, which he is selling at surprisingly low prices. He also has the finest stock of Chromos, Lithographs and Photographs, that have ever been brought to the city. Persons who wish to dorn their Trlors or sitting rooms, should remember that nothing adds so much to the general appoarunce of a room as a good selection of Pictures, and the Post Office is the place to get them. The Republican Mass Meeting, on Saturday, was well attended, and the business for which it was called together expeditiously and harmoniously transacted. After rescinding the action of the meeting held in January, which provided for a Delegate Nominating Convention, a resolution providing for a Primary Election, was unanimously adopted. It was decided to hold the election on the 30th of July, that the candidates might be given ample timeto make a canvass, but more particularly because the grass and grain harvest will then have been gathered, corn laid by, and the farmers will have leisure to attend the polls. For it is very important that a full expression be had from the Republicans of Monroe county, as to their

Eon CONGRESS. Hon. Moses F. Dunn, of Lawrence county, arrived on the train from the south, last Saturday, was introduced, and made a ten minutes'' speech to the Meeting, at fhe Court House. Mr. Dunn is a candidate for Congress from the Sixth District, and briefly announced himself as such, together with his views upon the acquisition of Foreign territory, as well as the granting of lands to Railroads and other corporations, by Congress.
