An Elopemkjjt Almost. One day kst week, a young man approached Conductor Hanlok, and asked birr, to stop his t rain, at the cut, east of town, on a certain day, as he was makiig arrangements to
elope with a young lady whose parents were net particularly fond of hira. Ever ready to lend a helping hand to the distressed, Hanloh consented, and upon the day indicated stopped hk train, but the funeral procession failed to put in an appearance. It was afterwards ascertained that at an early hour in the morning tho festive yaung lover presented himself at the residence of his affianced, and that she accompanied him soine distance from tho house, when it occurred to her that she had forgotten some article which she considered necessary to complete her outfit, and returned for it. Just tit this tine, Pa awoke, with premonitions of danger to something or somebxly, lie knew not what, but feeling restless, he went to the door and wis confronted by his daughter.
Comprehending the state of affairs at a glance, he dashed into the front yard and found .he young man impatiently "waiting; for thee, love." In language more forcible than polite, the young ma a was given choice between walking off of the premises or being shot oif.
