Calisaya or King's Bark was unkpown until tho middle of the 17th century. Humboldt makes favorable memion of its febrifuge qualities as an antidote to Fever and Ague, Intermittent and Malarious Fevers, in his extensive South American travels. In 1640 it was used by ihi Jesuits, who alone at thai time possessed the secret of its wondtiiful 'tonic properties, and it was sc Id by them for its own weight in silver. In 1658, eighteen years e.fter, Sir John Talbot employed it with great success in France in the treatment of Fever and Ajjue, Dyspepsia, Nervous Affoctic -.3, Less cf Appetite, Weakness arid Debility, Palpitation cf tho Heart, Diarrhoea, ;tc. In 1679 ho sold '.ho secret of its origin to Louis XIV, by whom ii '::v; divulged. It is now tho all important ingredient in Dt ike's PLANTATION BITTERS, and preserved ao it is in purs St. Croix Run, makes atonic of rare me 'it, and one- that &houU be upon the side-board every family. Messrs P. H. Drake & Co., tho sole proprietor!; of the celebrated PLANTATION BITTERS, are tho largest importers of Calisaya Bark in America. The Bark is gathered and cured under the immediate supervision of an agent sent out to Brazil, expressly for that purpose, and aside from a few thousand pounds which are so!d t: the manufacturers of Quinine, is all used in the preparing of these Bitters, to' whicn they are indebted for theii wonderful success as a tonic. iPjThe above cut represents the natives in their own native forest gathering the Bark.

Hurley's Agno T01 ie ; it is purely vegetable, and the most hap y combination that the science of moi'icinc has developed to contest successfully the moist nevalent diseases incident to a bilious or malarious climate, it being a most perfect antiperiodic, always breaking the chill in twi or threo dofes, but better than tbf.t, cr all else, and what renders it tho most efficient compound extant, is the universally conceded tact that it leaves the patient in better health th?in before the attack, with uc puffing up of the skin, no buzzing in the 1 cad, no impaired vision, but a clear head, a healthy skin, a bright eye, an clastic step, and huoyant health. It eliminfctea disease from the system by dissipating engagements of the secretions, exciting the liver to healthy action and giving tie pancreatic and hepfitic juiecs their normal oond'tion and healthy ilow. It is a better preventitive than cure, and if people could be prevailed jpon to lako it in, say teaspomiful doses three times a day daring tho chilly seasons, they would havo perfect imrmin.ty from chillf, and all their train ot concur litant disease, but w'10 but the nredei.l i. i'l tako medicine before they are kick.
