were not acquainted many months previous to his final departure from the gay scenes ol earth; yet those fexv months, xverc months of intimacy and friendship,
completed their circuit, since he broke through the ;

ing a mind, in energy surpassed by fexv, he bid fair for a long life, cheered by the smiles of attached friends, and crowned with the rewards of successful enterprise. A fexv short painful weeks have prostrated that boyish strong h, chilled that warm blood at its fountain and stilled that active and energetic mind. A fexv weeks'. Apparently how insignificant the space of time and yet how full of desolaiion! This youth had been successfully devoted to the improvement of thee mind. He
had prepared himself for an author, and was Jilted to
fill xvith usefulness and honor, a high place amongst the intelligent of the land. Thus having prepared himself for a useful life, just as he had entered upon its active duties, and began lo move in a sphere for which he was designed, surrounded by friends and
cheered by the smiles of the Fair, ho was' snatched by the hand of death., from the society of dear friends, and
all those flattering prospects of usefulness and honor, have forever failed. Like the young tree in all the pride of its leaves and brandies, and the promise of its blossoms thalsilcntly xv it hers, falls and scatters itsun-
