AN OSSIFIED MAN. In the ?fuf9umnt Dublin there is a skeleton of one Clerk, n native ofthe city of Cork, whom they called 'he Ossified man, one of the greatest curiosities of nature. It U tho carcass of a man entirely ossified in his life time, living in that condition several years. Those that knew him before this surprising alteration, affirm he had been a young man of great arility. lie felt the lirst symptom of his surprising change, sometime after h.3 had lain all night in the fields, alter a debauch, till by degrees every part grew into a bony substance, excepting his skin, eye?, and intestines. His joints settled in such a manner that no ligament had its proper operation ; he could not lie down nor rise up without assistance. He ha I at last no bend in his body; vet when he was placed upright, like a statue of stone, he could stand, h it he could not move in the least. His teeth were joined and formed into one entire hone, therefore a hole wai broken through them to convey liquid substance for his nourish m if. Flu tongue lost its use, and his sigh: lea him s .n j Lne before lu expired. ZVo.ti the Si. I. mis Republican. "When Philip, King of Macedoii, was plotting the suhi'.ig x'ion of then by tho use of money, after the use of his arms had proved unavailing, a certain orator was called upon l address the people in opposition to Philip, but declined on the ground of his being too hoarse to pcak, whereupon a erson in the assembly allcdged that hi throat had been affected with Philip's money." The above was published in the Argus of this city, extracted from a Haitimore paper. The editors must certainly have forgotton tho old adage, which says, "never speak of a rope in a family of whom one has been hung.'' It is a capital joke on the opposition, but is Wretched bad policy to crack it in this neighborhood. Col.Hcnron will think it all ain.cd at him the case is similar with his ow n w ith this difference, however, that money applied to the Col. nei's throat did not produce a hoarseness: but so effectually cleared it out that he has been the loudest in advocating the "subjugation t'f Athens," ever since C KAY AT.

.An attorney brought an immense bill to a lady for some business he nad done for her. The lady (to whom he had once paid his addresses,) murmured at the charges. "Madam," replied the limb of the law, "I had a mind to convince you that my profession is lucrative, and that I should not have made a bai match. "lien, what's the reason they call you and me indented apprentices P "I don't know," replied, Hen, "except it's because Boss licks us with a stick, and dents us all over."
