Johnson received a call from Congressman John Myers’ office last month saying the money had been approved by HUD for the GHA. But when Johnson called HUD for details, he found HUD employees unwilling to speak to him. “We’re in a really ugly waiting game,” Johnson told the board. EDELSON, A 1955 DePauw graduate, will present a slide lecture about her work at 4 p.m. Oct. 17 in East College, room 107. A reception to open the exhibition, titled “Shape Shifter Seven Mediums,” will be held immediately following in the Emison Art Center gallery. All events are open and free to the public. Edelson works in a wide range of media investigating issues that revolve around the creation erf a viable alternative culture. The images and metaphors in her work are drawn from diverse fields, including anthropology, sacred studies, art history, physics and ecology. DURING THE 19705, she was best known for her ritual performances, and now she is widely recognized for her painted installations, drawings, paintings and photographs. Works in the DePauw exhibition include photographs of private rituals from the 19705, works on paper, cast bronze sculpture from the 1980 s, and a large-scale oil.

Patrons can now visit the traveling mini-library every other Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:25 p.m. at Wal-Mart/Putnam Plaza and 6:30 7:15 p.m. at Round Bam Manor Apartments. Among the 2,500 volumes carried in the bookmobile are regular and large-print fiction and non-fic-tion books for adult and children, as well as magazines. Special requests can also be filled for video tapes, audio tapes, phonograph records, and a Polaroid camera. REGULAR STOPS are scheduled at all elementary schools that have requested the service, local grocery stores, day-care centers, community centers, nursing homes and apartment complexes. When requested, books can also be delivered to homebound individuals. Stops vary in length from about 90 minutes at the schools, to hourlong visits to communities such as Cloverdale and Heritage Lake, to 45 or 30 minutes elsewhere. Putnam County’s bookmobile

Weaver and Adams anticipate a further increase in the number of borrowers this year as community awareness of the service grows. ANYONE WITH a library card is encouraged to take advantage of bookmobile stops. County residents without a library card may get one from the bookmobile, Weaver said, or at the library building located at Walnut and Vine streets in Greencastle. Residents may also ask for specific items, either by placing heir request with Weaver and Adams or by calling the library at 653-2755. The bookmobile has recently undergone minor repairs.
