In memory of Susan Cundiff Dittma on this her 37th birthday. Three years ago I stood by the bedside of my wife Susan in the Intensive Care unite of Memorial Hospital, Springfield, IL. I watched helplessly as every dream we had ever shared seemed to shatter like broken glass. That body that I had grown to cherish and to love was no longer in my grasp, and I was suddenly coming to the reality of life Death is no respecter of persons. Within just a few short hours our world had literally collapsed, Susan’s physical body was gone, I’d never felt so empty and confused, and yet I had to take two little girls in my arms and tell them that their Mother would never be coming back home. Since that day tragedy struck our family things have drastically changed. Our perspectives, our outlook on life, people, and our future is looked at through different eyes. God has given each and everyone of us life, not to make a living and have a good time, but to make a difference in this world. This past winter a small simple chapel was erected in the Dominican Republic in memory of Susan Cundiff Dittmer. Her life which was so full and giving to others still lives on, not only through the lives of our two daughters, not only through a chapel building in a small town in Dominican Republican, but her life will live on through all eternity. Because she gave—others may know. Loved and missed by husband, daughters & family
