Harris Hall activities during Fair Week HARRIS HALL ACTIVITIES JULY 21-28 Saturday, July 21 8 a.m. to noon, enter adult open class exhibits, including culinary arts, clothing and crafts. Sunday, July 22 Building open for viewing exhibits after the parade, until 10 p.m. Monday-Friday Building open for viewing exhibits, 10 a.m.-lO p.m. Monday, July 23 Tuesday, July 24 Wednesday, July 25 Ladies Day, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Theme: “Wash Day News Wash Day Blues.” Wednesday evening -H demonstrations and craft demonstration by Rosewood Crafts. Thursday, July 26 cluding miniature quilts, woodworking and more. Friday, July 27 Banana Bake-Off: Enter items, 8 a.m.-noon; open judging begins, 12:30 p.m.; Bake-off auction, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28 -10 a.m., exhibits released.

Banana appealing flavor for bake-off Friday at county fair
Schwab’s IGA of Cloverdale will once again sponsor a bake-off as part of the fair festivities in Harris Hall during the Putnam County Fair. The event will take place Friday, July 27. The bake-off is open to any county resident (except IGA employees, members of the Fair Board, employees of the Extension Office and persons in their households). ENTRIES WILL BE accepted at Harris Hall from 8 a.m. until noon on July 27. Open judging will begin at 12:30 p.m. The winners will be announced, prize money awarded and the delicious entries auctioned off at 7 p.m. Friday. Entrants are limited to one entry per class, and each entry must contain some form of bananas in the baked portion of the entry. The classes are: six cookies, one cake,

The feature of Harris Hall’s Monday night open judging event this year will be the category Art Work, including: Sketches, oil, acrylic, tole and watercolor painting. THE JUDGE AND speaker for Monday evening’s program will be Ken Bucklew, wildlife artist from Spencer. Bucklew is known for his watercolors of wildlife and scenic paintings of Southern Indiana. Many of his wildlife paintings have more than one species coming together unexpectedly to create curious and interesting situations. His landscapes capture the mode and character of a particular place and time. The life long artist-naturalist was bom in 1957 and is a native of Spencer. His home and studio are located across from the entrance of McCormick’s Creek State Park. TO MEET BUCKELEW and learn more about art work at the fair, persons are invited to attend the open judging in Harris Hall at 7 p.m. Monday.

The recipes must be printed on B'/z by 11-inch paper. The recipes become the property of IGA. ALL ENTRIES MUST be on disposable containers. Cream pies or any product requiring refrigeration cannot be accepted. Prizes will be awarded to the winners as follows: First-place in each category will receive SSO, with S3O for second and S2O for third. A SIOO grand prize will be awarded to the best of the four class winners. The winner, however, does not gain any points toward the Top Exhibitor Award for Harris Hall.
