Dear Abby Ex-girlfriend should let this sleeping dog lie now
DEAR ABBY: How do you feel about a married man’s former girlfriend sending the man’s wife all the intimate love letters he wrote to that girlfriend during a longdistance affair? The married man lied to the girlfriend during the whole affair saying he was not married. Would it be too harsh to notify the wife in this manner? The evidence is overwhelming. Thtf man could never talk his way out of it in a million years. CONSIDERING IT
DEAR CONSIDERING: Although the man doesn't deserve to be let off lightly, I would not send his wife the damning evidence. It would punish her more cruelly than him and she didn’t wrong you. Let the good Lord do the judging and handle the punishment. ♦ ♦ ♦ DEAR ABBY: This concerns a 25-year-old man who wears a partial plate consisting of a retainer and two front teeth. Regardless of where he eats, he takes this retainer out of his mouth and places it on the table in front of him then proceeds to eat. Needless to say, I think this is disgusting, and it ruins my appetite. Granted, he probably can’t eat with this retainer in his mouth, but why should the rest of us have to put up with his bad manners? Since he eats at my table quite often, would it be proper to suggest that he put it out of sight during the meal? I am embarrassed having friends for meals when he is here. He is my daughter’s boyfriend. Abby, I have asked her to speak to him about this, but she says she can’t hurt his feelings. REPULSED IN CANADA DEAR REPULSED: Feelings, schmeelings, this is no job for you. Assign it to your daughter; he’s her boyfriend. It’s time he learned that this is not acceptable, and she’s the one to teach him. * * * DEAR ABBY: I own a motorcycle and have occasionally treated one of my children to a ride. I have always been extremely careful when one of them was aboard. We have never gone on highways, we avoided heavy traffic, wore helmets, etc. A couple of months ago I was riding with my 6-year-old son behind me, when I felt his fingers tighten on my buck and heard a high-pitched wail. I immediately pulled over and stopped.

When I looked back his shoe was gone and the whole side of his foot had been burned off! After reconstructive surgery, skin grafts and a month in the hospital, thank God the foot was saved. He is finally beginning to walk again. That foot is terribly disfigured, and will cause him problems for the rest of his life. Abby, please tell people that motorcycles are dangerous, especially for young children. It doesn’t have to take an accident for a serious injury to occur. A fidgety kid can easily get his foot caught in the spokes of a moving wheel. And an exhaust pipe can burn a foot to the bone in a split second. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t relive this awful experience. I love my kids more than anything in the world. It tears me up inside seeing what my little boy went through because I decided to take him for a “little ride.” And it could have been a lot worse! Please, you folks with motorcycles, when you’ve got kids with you take the car! SORRY I DIDN’T IN DENVER DEAR SORRY: Thanks for a valuable addition to this column. ♦ ♦ * DEAR ABBY: Didn’t you once compare people who dominate every conversation with pigs? And if so, what was the exact quote? D.J. IN TULSA DEAR D.J.: “The person who makes a habit of hogging every conversation is no better than a pig who comes to the table and eats all the food.’’ • » ♦ (Every teen-ager should know the truth about sex, drugs and how to be happy.
