New Sunday movie aids CBS ratings
NEW YORK (AP)-You could go to a multi-screen theater complex and choose from a variety of films, or you could do the same thing by staying home on Sunday night. Starting last week, CBS joined ABC and NBC with Sunday movies, and CBS’ comeback hopes for the 1985-86 prime-time season depend greatly on the NO. 2 network receiving rave ratings for its films. FOR THE FIRST time this season, CBS has captured consecutive victories in the A.C. Nielsen Co. ratings. The latest resulted from an especially strong Sunday night performance from its new lineup that now includes a movie. Going into last Sunday, CBS trailed NBC by 2% ratings points for the week of Jan. 6-12. Network researchers figured CBS would cut the margin to about a point, but “Rockabye,” CBS’ debut Sunday night movie, fooled them.
