By JOEY SASSO Gina Lollobrigida has lost pounds from her voluptuous figure - and she blames stagefright and the terror of lawlessness that has haunted her for more than a year. It isn't the series of six guest appearances on "Falcon Crest" that has her worried - it's her forthcoming stage role in a new production of "The Rose Tattoo," scheduled to open in Broadway in April. "The fear is so great that I have lost 12 pounds trying to summon up courage,” says Gina, 57. "I've got another month before rehearsals start. What am I going to be like then?" It was after she came to the U.S. to appear on the CBS series as Jane Wyman's illegitimate half-sister, Francesca Gioberti, that she was offered the stage role in New York. "I closed my eyes and signed," Gina recalls. "I decided that although I'd never done live stage before, I wanted to do it before my career ends. I feel now I have to re-establish myself in America as an actress, and although television gives you exposure, there is no better way of achieving professional acclaim than appearing on Broadway." ★ * ★ IN THE WINGS: Tom Poston recalls that one of the most valuable experiences of his acting career came when he appeared in a Broadway production of "Cyrano de Bergerac" that was produced and directed by Jose Ferrer. "Ferrer, of course, had played the great Cyrano on Broadway and in the movie version," said Poston, who portrays handyman George on the "Bob Newhart Show." "Naturally, I was worried and felt a little unsure of myself." Ferrer did not make things easier for him and never missed an opportunity to make Poston really feel unsure as the date came for the Broadway opening. "On that day, Ferrer approached me, and asked how I felt," Poston said. "I was a little mad and told him that my unstable mental attitude was due in a large part to the harrassment he has given me. Ferrer chuckled and said, 'That's the best news I've heard this week. You'll do fine. The

The worst thing in the world is an over-confident actor - they usually invite disaster. The actor who isn't sure of himself usually gives a much better performance.'" EYE ON TV: Stephanie Zimbalist's battle to bury the hatchet with "Remington Steele" co-star Pierce Brosnan has been dealt a severe blow-and the culprit is Brosnan's wife Cassandra, insiders say. Stephanie had put her pride in her pocket and declared a truce with her suave co-star in a bid to keep "Remington Steele" on the air, sources close to the show say. But the truce blew up recently when Stephanie stomped out in a huff, enraged by Cassandra's meddling on the set, says a source who witnessed the scene. "It appeared as though Cassandra and Stephanie were either arguing about something or having a disagreement,” the insider says.
