Lindsay Wagner is ABC's 'Jessie' girl, or is she?

Times News Service NEW YORK For more than two years, ABC executives had been trying to lure Lindsay Wagner back to television in hopes the star of “The Bionic Woman could turn in another hit for the network. Now they’ve apparently succeeded, but it’s been a rocky reunion. Wagner plays a police psychiatrist in “Jessie,” set to debut Tuesday.

Last year Wagner and ABC started discussing “concepts,” and she agreed to do “Jessie.” But then the tug of war began. Wagner wanted to do “people” stories, and portray a genuine holistic psychiatist. What the network wanted, in Wagner’s own words, was “that I have to be in jeopardy four times an hour.” What was happening with “Jessie” as soon as Wagner
