Dear Abby
Sexual harassment: Nothing to laugh about, reader insists
DEAR ABBY: My ex-boss was an animal. First he asked me if I ever fooled around, then he asked me what kind of birth control I used. I didn t answer either question. He invited me to have a drink with him after work. I refused. When he tried to put his arms around me, I decided I had had enough, so I reported him to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and filed a complaint. It was a hard thing to do, hut I had to do it so he wouldn’t pull the same stuff with his next secretary. I work for the state and was immediately transferred to another job where I’m very happy. Don’t ask me how they found out, but the people in the office I left know that I filed a sexual harassment complaint against the boss. Now, whenever I see my former coworkers, I feel uncomfortable because they laugh and make jokes about the circumstances under which I left. To me it was a serious matter and I had to put a stop to it.

Do you think I did the right thing in filing that complaint? And why do they try to make me feel guilty? UPSET DEAR UPSET: You did the right thing in filing that complaint. Trying to make the victim feel guilty is a cruel game some people play. Don’t let it get to you. Working women everywhere would do well to follow your courageous example. * * * DEAR ABBY: I’m engaged to marry a guy who has to be the cheapest man in the world. He wants to start a chicken farm, but he doesn’t want to invest any money. He refuses to buy an incubator; he wants me to hatch the eggs in my bra! He says there’s a lot of good heat going to waste there. He figures that every three weeks we should hatch from 6 to 12
