Kenneth Kiesler, assistant conductor of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, will be guest conductor for a concert by the DePauw University symphony orchestra Sunday, Nov. The 3 p.m. concert in Kresge Auditorium of the DePauw Perfdrming Arts Center will include Rossini’s Overture to Semiramide, Beethoven’s Sympfiony No. 8, and an overture, Fantasia, from Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikowsky. KENNETH KIESLER Guest Conductor at DPU
graduation. PRIOR TO HIS ISO appointment he was music director of the Prince Georges Philharmonic in suburban Washington, D.C. He also has directed at John Hopkins University and was a fellow in orchestral conducting at the Aspen Music Festival. Kiesler has appeared as guest conductor with organizations in New York, Vermont and Maine, and has more than 20 musical theatre and film productions to his credit. Sunday’s concert is free and open to the public.

Obituaries Ida O. Wood
Ida 0. Wood, 94, a resident of the Indiana Masonic Home at Franklin for the past 13 years, passed away Wednesday at the Masonic Hospital in that city. Born in Madison Township of Putnam County on Jan. 13, 1887, she was an elementary school teacher for more than 20 years. A graduate of Terre Haute Normal, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Greencastle and a 50year member of the Greencastle Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include a brother, Fay Thomas, Greencastle; a sister, Ona Sigler, Roachdale; two nieces, Virginia Perkins, Roachdale, and Mrs. Joe (Ida May) Baird, Russellville; six nephews,

State historical meeting set Nov. 7
The Indiana Historical Society will hold its annual meeting Nov. 7 at the Airport Hilton. The Family History Section has scheduled Bill R. Linder and Rabbi Malcolm H. Stern as speakers for their program. Linder is director of the Central Reference Division of the National Archives and general chairman of the Second Conference in the States planned by 'Jie National Genealogical Society and the Family History Section of the Indiana Historical Society. He is author of “How to Trace Your Family Tree” (New York: 1978). RABBI STERN, DIRECTOR (retired), Rabbinic Placement for Reform Judaism, is a fellow and past president of the American Society of Genealogists, program chairman for the Second Conference in the States, author of “First American Jewish Families: 600 Genealogies, 1654-1977” (Cincinnati: 1978) and widely known as a lecturer. Registration will be at 9 a.m. and lectures start at 9:30 with Searching for Family History in the National Archives by Linder followed by Stern Jewish Migration into and in the United States. In the afternoon Stern will speak again Ethics and Genealogy and the program conclude with Linder talking on various aspects of Family Organizations. Registration is $2 which can be paid at the door. 16th annual speaking contest set Gene Clodfelter, chairman of the Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District, has announced that the subject of the 16th annual Indiana Conservation Public Speaking Contest is “Indiana’s Water Resource -- Where Do We Go From Here?” HIGH SCHOOL sophomores, juniors and seniors who live in Putnam County are eligible to compete in the district contest. District winners compete in area contests in February 1982. First-place area winners will compete in the state finals April 2 in the Indianapolis area. Solmos and a few of his friends saved the ticket stubs for the SI,OOO prize.
