Hints from Heloise Retarding mold on cheese is job of vinegar and cloth
DEAR HELOISE: Wonder if you could tell me how to keep cheese from molding. Of course I keep it refrigerated, but we just can’t use it up fast enough. Charlene Lee * ★ ★ Personally, I like to grate it into a plastic bag and store it in the freezer, using as much at a time as needed. It’ll keep a long time that way. But, if you’ll dip a piece of cheese cloth in white vinegar, squeeze it out and wrap the chunk of cheese in the cloth, the vinegar will retard any mold that threatens to form. Sometimes, just wiping the cheese off with a paper towel dampened with vinegar as soon as you bring the cheese home from the store will keep

Heloise SOMETHING EXTRA Dear Heloise: Including stamps for postage when giving a gift of stationery makes the gift a little more thoughtful. - Rita Cameron ★ ★ ★ The way postage keeps going up, that’s a very thoughtful idea. Heloise LETTER OF THOUGHT Dear Heloise: I get my energy, motivation and enthusiasm by liking myself and liking my neighbors. When a new family moves into the neighborhood, I have a get-acquainted coffee hour for them. Introductions and household tips are exchanged. For a fun thing that’s helpful,

Would you like to hear the lovely sounds of a good women's quartet?
We prepare a map of our street with the names and addresses filled in. The guests add their home telephone number, names of family members, etc. The map is then kept by the newcomer’s phone for easy reference. By knowing your neighbors you can help each other by watching each other’s property during vacations and by feeling free to call in an emergency. Come hear Daybreak A group of young ladies singing your favorite gospel songs the way you like to hear them: not too loud, full of rich harmony and from the heart. main tied to stay. Varda Westergard * * ★ The moms and teachers of the world thank you! Heloise RE-THREADING Dear Heloise: When the cord on my traverse rod was nearly worn in two, I purchased a new cord. To make sure it was replaced right, I took the old cord and cut it. Then I attached the new cord securely to the old one and pulled it through the rod until the new cord was in place and the old one was completely removed. Worked beautifully and I was assured the new cord was properly placed. Ellen Murphrey CHIPPED CHIPS Dear Heloise: When you make chocolate chip cookies for the youngsters and find yourself using less chips because of the high price, cut the chocolate chips with a knife or food chopper. This way, it seems like there are more chocolate chips in the cookies. It also helps distribute them more evenly in the cookies. Mrs. Robert Ergenbright

THE FAMILY CIRCUS. By Bil Keane into "Look! It's a concrete blender."
HEARTS N’ FLOWERS Dear Heloise: A fresh flower makes an excellent birthday card. The cost is nearly equal to a card, and the joy is unsurpassed. Vi Parker MAKING PLANT SENSE Dear Heloise: I’m a houseplant nut and have scads of them so, to keep track, I write down the kind of plant, watering care, fertilizer needed and any other pertinent information, then tape it to the side of each pot. When we are on vacations and liave someone taking care
of the plants, it'is much easier for that person and I don’t have to worry. Also, when entertaining, guests notice the info and it’s a great conversation starter. Mrs. Bunny Kilian ★ ★ ★ Share a thoughtful notion by sending it to Heloise, P.O. Box 32000, San Antonio, Tx. 78216. She can’t reply to your letter personally but she’ll pass along the nicest ideas received by printing them in her column.
