The ‘'Harlot’s Revenge” is a partial answer to the query by Father Ames. For prostitutes feign excessive ardor to make their patrons become regular customers. CASE X-601: Father Ames, aged 42, is a Catholic priest. “Dr. Crane,” he began, “why do so many modem husbands develop the false notion that all women are wildly erotic. “In my counseling with parishioners, I believe that is one of the most frequent causes of marriage quarrels. “For wives report that their husbands often deflate their feminine pride by calling them ‘frigid’. “Why do husbands develop that notion, anyway?” HARLOT’S REVENGE This commentary by Father Ames is universally true of many husbands. And it might be called the “Harlot’s Revenge” on legal wives who disdain the girls who work in brothels. For the prostitutes feign excessive ardor in order to make their male patrons happy. Yet the usual brothel customer doesn’t realize that the ecstatic moans and groans of their prostitute consort are to bolster his male ego and thus cause him

to ask for the same girl the next time he is in that city. Alas, when such a man later marries and finds that his wife is not as excited by his love making, such a husband blames his mate for being sexually cold and frigid. Actually, she is simply a normal woman, for the Almighty did not create the human female to be as hungry for dinner table viands nor for boudoir cheesecake as is the normal husband. “Oh, but Dr. Crane,” many modem young women will indignantly protest, “you are entirely wrong! “For we are just as romantic and affectionate as are men!” That’s malarky regarding hunger for boudoir cheesecake! Such women confuse dilly dallying courtship with the payoff! For, after the novelty reaction of the honeymoon wanes, plus the arrival of a few babies, coupled with the myriad household duties, those same supposedly erotic wives begin to evade and avoid boudoir cheesecake. Yet their mates are still hungry for erotic union. Oh, there are many wives who act and talk as if they

were as sexually hungry as men. They are not normal but suffer from these sexual inferiority complexes: (1) They are scared because of a mastectomy or hysterectomy and thus feel they must lack normal feminine sex appeal, so they compensate by feigned ardor to bolster their own morale. (2) They are often childless wives so they act unduly erotic to make it appear they are above par in their sexual endowment. (3) And if they develop a mania for a baby, they may even seduce other husbands in the hope of getting pregnant. Biblical Jacob had 4 wives and that is about the usual ration of erotic verve of the normal husband vs. wife, unless she is goaded by the inferiority complexes mentioned above or by the modern movie and TV pornography.
