Cloverdale chapter hosts grand OES officers

Cloverdale Chapter 369, Greencastle Chapter 255, and Fillmore Chapter 186. Order of the Eastern Star, met June 9 at the Cloverdale Masonic Temple for the visit of Naomi Mitchell, Worthy Grand Matron and several grand officers of the Indiana Grand Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star A pitch-in dinner was held at 6 pm. in the chapter dining room Which was decorated in a nautical theme. At 7:10 p.m . Baby Dedication was held in the chapter room. Mr. and Mrs. George M. Cummings Jr. and son George stood at the alter while the Worthy Grand Matron spoke to them. Cloverdale Chapter presented the opening work, Greencastle Chapter gave initiatory work, and

also attended, Margaret Harris and Betty Harmless. Registration was under the direction of Alpha Omega chapter of Brazil and a coffee hour was provided by members of Brazil Alpha chapter. Following this, workshops were held for scholarship, treasurers, secretaries, and public relations. The delegate workshop was under the supervision of the province officer, Peggy Blair, Beta Unit Associate Chapter, Brazil. At the luncheon, the following

state council officers were introduced: Jo Ann Chandler, president; Sarah Tolbert, vice president; Vanlila Lockwood, treasurer; Joan Morgan, secretary. Kay Coomer of Beta Psi chapter, serving as a state officer on the Public Relations Committee, represented that committee at the convention. Art work, prepared by participating chapters, was judged and the popular award was given to Jane Maurer, Brazil, Alpha Omega, for her oil painting "Sunshine and Bluebells.”

Two jury awards were given to Betsy Wade, Martinsville Alpha Psi, for her watercolor, “Rocks and Pines”, in the professional category and to Sally Carpenter, Brazil Alpha Associates for her oil painting “Seascape” The best of show-handicraft award was presented to the Lebanon Chapter, Alpha Beta, for their quilt. The scrapbook awards were presented to the active chapter of Brazil Alpha Omega and to the associate chapter of Mooresville for the most complete activity records.
