Knight batted .318 in his first full season as the Reds’ third baseman. “He responded well to the challenge and I was pleased for him,” Kennedy said of his roommate since 1978. “I hope I can do this year what he did last year.” For Kennedy, the biggest change if he wins the fulltime second base job will be mental, not physical. “A regular gears himself to play 150 games or so,” he said. “You know when you come to the park every day that you’re

He’s had just 15 homers in a professional career that began in 1968. “I’m not going to hit the ball out of the park for you, that’s not my style. But I can do a lot of little things that will get the job done,” he said. The job now is replacing Morgan, and that’s not a simple task. But if his roomie could replace the third baseman, well, the Reds hope Kennedy can do the same thing at second base.

Within 6 months Vera used the strategy below to win a wedding band without compromising her sexual standards an iota. For sex isn’t die basic appeal that wins husbands! Girls, wise up! CASE U-648: Vera T. , aged 22, is a college graduate, now working in an advertising agency. “Dr. Crane,” she began, “nowadays it seems most of the men that ask girls for a date are interested just in a sex episode in her apartment. “Or a sex orgy at a motel over the weekend! “So how can a decent girl expect to get married if she refuses to indulge in premarital sexual affairs?” MALE PSYCHOLOGY If you girls would analyze men more closely, you’d find that it really isn’t a sexual affair that is so important to your escort. Instead, is the inflation of his ego by feeling that he has made you submit to his male demands. Thus, in the final analysis, it is inflation of his ego that is of prime importance to him, not merely the sex act. And a smart girl can inflate his ego by her deft verbal compliments even more than merely by submitting to his erotic demands! It is common experience on our college campuses to see young couples “shacking up” together for maybe a year, as the coed paramour plans to win a wedding ring from her male consort. By thus offering him free sex favors, plus doing his laundry and typing his college thesis, she hopes to become so indispensible to him that he will propose real marriage and buy her a wedding ring.

Meanwhile, he often asks her to move out for a few days if his parents come to the college for a brief visit! And at such holidays as Christmas or Easter, he goes back home alone for his vacation, during which she may get a telegram that he has bought a wedding ring • but for the hometown sweetheart who kept him at arm’s length, sexually, but who inflated his ego merely by deft verbal compliments! For the used college concubine doesn’t inflate his ego after their first few sexual episodes, since he realizes if the coed would shack up with him, she’d probably do so with other guys when his back was turned. Thus, his initial ego inflation of conquering her sexually, is later dissipated by his belief others could do the same, which is why he soon develops merely a platonic regard for her between sex episodes instead of the true love that is shown by wedding rings. On the other hand, his hometown sweetheart has inflated his ego by verbal praise and the non-verbal compliments of her smiles, gay laughter and charming repartee. Men also like competition and are challenged by the unconquered so they are intrigued by the hometown sweetheart’s use of Roman Seneca’s advice, to a young man with a diffident sweetheart: “Go to the archer,” said Seneca, “and see how he handles his bow. With one hand he pulls it toward him while with the other he pushes it away.” Which means, keep ’em guessing and you’ll more likely win a real proposal! Thus, the hometown girl bolsters his ego by being hard to get, he then values her far more as a prospective wife and mother of his children. Girls, send for my “Compliment Club” booklet, enclosing a long stamped, return envelope, plus 25 C, tor it shows how to win a wedding ring without compromising your sexual standards an iota!
