Jesse C. Ford
Jesse C. Ford, 76. Route 1. Roachdale, died Wednesday evening at the St. Vincent Hospital at Indianapolis after an extended illness. He was born May JO, 1903 at North Salem, the son of Alva and Ethel (Zimmerman) Ford. Mr Ford was married on June 2.1925 to Beatrice (Betty) Stewart Hathaway at Greencastle, and she survives. He was a member of the Roachdale Christian Church. the Roachdale Masonic Lodge. York Rite at Greencastle. Murat Shine of Indianapolis, the Putnam County Shrine Club and the Roachdale Eastern Star
George Hutchins
George Hutchins. 70. 724 E. Main St., Crawfordsville. passed away Wednesday morning in the Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. Born in Roachdale, he was the son of Lincoln and Caroline (Osborne) Hutchins. He was married to Edith Chadwick who preceded him in death. A graduate of Wabash College in 1921, he also was a graduate of Purdue and Michigan-Illinois Normal. The deceased was a teacher and coach, a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church in
Herschel Ray Deakins
Herschel Ray Deakins Jr., 59, Staunton, died at 5 a m. Wednesday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Mr. Deakins formerly served as the director of education at the Indiana State Farm at Putnamville. He accepted the Putnamville position in 1964 and held it until 1971 after serving as principal at Patricksburg and Staunton high schools. He began his teaching career at Ashboro High School and coached athletics. Mr. Deakins attended Staunton High School and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University. He was a member of the Staunton United Methodist Church and the Indiana Fur Buyers Association. He was a veteran of World War 11.
Stanley F. Church
Stanley F. Church, 45, Route 1, Coatesville, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Veteran’s Hospital at Indianapolis. He was born March 2,1934 at Glasgow, Ky., the son of Guy and Alma Church. Mr. Church was a member of the Speedway Disabled Veterans organization. He worked as a gear cutter for Link Belt, FMC. Survivors include his wife, Charmaine; two sons, Ricky and Michael, both at home;

Mr Ford worked as a farmer all of his life. Other survivors include two sons, Franklin and Melvin Ford, both of Roachdale; two daughters-in-law, Arlene Ford and Josephine Ford; and four grandchildren. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the Servies and Morgan Funeral Home at Roachdale. Masonic services are scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Roachdale Christian Church. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery

Saturday at the Lawson-Slack Funeral Home, Brazil, with the Rev. Frank Ciampa officiating. Burial will be at the Clearview Cemetery with the VFW Post No. 1127 conducting military graveside rites. North Putnam scores well in piano and vocal contests
North Putnam High School has announced the results of the recent piano and vocal solo and ensemble contest held at DePauw University and the state finals at Tech High School in Indianapolis. Students in Group I who received a second-division rating were: Sherry Mackey, vocal solo; and Lisa McFarland, piano solo. Marathon aids ACS
A DePauw University fraternity will launch a 100-hour basketball marathon April 1 to raise money for the Putnam County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Members of Phi Delta Theta have a special motivation for the nearly week-long event. Its five-member teams will play in memory of fraternity brother Todd Williams of Terre Haute who died of cancer last September. The marathon, scheduled as the fraternity’s annual Community Service Day project, will begin at noon April 1. Opposing teams, which will pay a nominal fee to participate, will come from the campus and community. Donations may be sent to the Todd Williams Memorial Basketball Marathon, Phi Delta Theta, 446 Anderson St., Greencastle 46135.

Dinner to honor Coffey's retirement
Denzil Coffey of Greencastle, claims representative with the Social Security Administration at Crawfordsville, has announced his retirement, effective Feb. 29. Coffey’s career with Social Security began in 1962 and he has worked in Social Security offices in Ft. Wayne, Bloomington and Indianapolis, in addition to Crawfordsville. IN 1973, lIE was awarded a superior Performance citation for his work in helping people with their Social Security claims. Born in Mt. Carmel, 111., Coffey started to school in Indianapolis and attended Belle Union and Eminence schools before graduating from Clinton Center High School in Putnam County. After serving jn the Navy for two and a half years, during which time he saw service in the South Pacific, he attended DePauw University and received his BA degree in 1950. Registration under way at Ivy Tech
Indiana Vocational Technical College (Ivy Tech), located five miles south of Terre Haute, will begin its spring quarter classes March 3. Registration is currently in progress this week.
