Hints from Heloise

DEAR HELOISE: I have figured out an easy way to have breakfast at work on those mornings that I don’t have time to eat at home. Here is how it works: At home I grab a nice, fresh egg and wrap it in aluminum foil, being careful to fold the edges down tight. When 1 get to work, I slip the wrapped egg in the top of the big coffee percolator. right on top of the grounds. After about one hour, I have a nice, freshly boiled egg. Y-u-m. I I have since tried the same thing with sandwiches, only I eut the sandwich in half diagonally, and wrap each half separately. Then at work, they fit around the percolator Stem just fine. ’ Ham, cheese, and cold cuts without garlic flavoring are the best. Some flavors would surely affect the taste of the foffee. ; Sweet rolls and muffins are, of course, super delicious heated this way. E.B. 9 * ★ * ! You are absolutely right 1 We tried the egg first and it worked so well that we immediately made a sandwich and tried heating that in the percolator top. Of course, the boss might not be too happy, if there are several gals in the office, and they all start preparing their morning snack Heloise ★ * ★ DEAR HELOISE: I I wonder how many people know that public libraries have copying machines.

I did not until just recently. They are so handy when you want to share a pattem with a friend or even when you need to make a copy of some important papers. M.C.V.D. * * * I JITTER OF LAUGHTER DEAR HELOISE: My husband is a "showerhowler." (He calls it singing!) He gets up before I do every morning and, believe me, that must be the most horrible sound in the world to wake up to in the morning. I decided to tape his howling for three mornings, then woke hun up to it full blast with the recorder hidden so he had to listen to the whole "program.” It worked and is fast becoming a family joke! Now I can hear the birds that sing around our house and they sound so much better at six o’clock in the morning! A Reader * * * DEAR HEIXJISE: When your plastic garbage cans split or wear out, throw them out but save the lids. The lids are great for sitting or kneeling on when gardening. The underside of the lid can be used as a "wheelbarrow” for transporting garden tools, soil, or plants from one area to another. Rose Marie Mallon ★ ★ * Hey, that’s a good idea. It always seemed such a waste to throw away the lid but I could never think of anything to do with it.
