Toothbrush helps fight kitchen 'decay'

DEAR HEIXDISE: 1 guess it’s my pet peeve I’m writing to you about A lady wrote in your column of all the things she cleaned with a toothbrush. She should have said all the things she “has” to clean with a toothbrush. I could spend all day in the kitchen and never get finished. Whoever designed some of these gadgets and appliances surely must never have had to clean even one. My clock on top of the stove has ridges use a toothbrush. My can opener grooves! The chrome on the stove and

The edges of my kitchen table, the vegetable bin covers in the refrigerator, the chrome around the back of the sink and faucets more grooves, all of which have to be cleaned with a toothbrush. Dear Abby Reader bares her past, finds a future

DEAR ABBY: From time to time you print a letter from a woman asking if she should reveal to her fiance that she isn’t a virgin. I say, take the risk and tell him. If he drops her, it will hurt, but she will be spared a difficult marriage. A man who is rigid on virginity is bound to have rigid attitudes about everything else. If he feels he must have a perfect bride, will he settle for less than a perfect wife? I had an abortion at age 18. In subsequent years there were other boyfriends. The ones I wanted to marry, I told. It seemed I was always saying goodbye until finally a man came along who said, “Forget it. The past doesn’t matter. As far as I’m concerned, our lives began the day we met.” This man was worth the wait. We’ve been married for 25 years and 1 have never known the fear of wondering what my husband would do when he found out I wasn’t perfect; he’s known all along. Acceptance “as is” is the most beautiful compliment a man can give his wife. It’s wonderful to know that one doesn’t have to be perfect to be loved. HAPPY “AS IS” IN BONITA, CALIF. DEAR HAPPY: One who is loved has probably earned it. Congratulations. DEAR ABBY: We read with interest the letter regarding kids who love loud music, much to the dismay of their parents. There is another group of offenders. 1 refer to church organists who pull out all the stops and play at a volume that actually makes your ears ache! Our hearing is normal. We don’t need to have that kind of volume to hear. Sometimes we can hardly wait to get out of church. In fact, we have actually quit going to one church for this reason.

My thread and scissors all go in the bottom tray, my other notions go in the other two. When I want to sew, I just lift up the tiers and all is handy. The nice thing, too, is that it

Matilda Crain HINTS FROM HIM DEAR HEIXHSE: I needed milk for cereal one day and had none . wet or dry so I used four ounces of non-dairy creamer I had on hand for my coffee and added it to a quart of water. Of course, this is nonnutritious so you wouldn’t want to use it on a regular basis, but it’s good to know in a pinch. J.R. Sterling ★ ★ * Not only that, it’s really delicious! Heloise

When we mentioned this to one organist, she took it as a personal criticism of her playing and was quite miffed. Perhaps a word in your column would be more effective. I hope so. C.E. IN ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA. DEAR C.E.: I hear vou loud and clear. Read on: DEAR ABBY: We also had the problem of loud music at our house. My parents used to complain that my stereo was too loud. They were of another generation and didn’t understand that rock and disco have to be played loud or they’re not effective. My grandmother solved the problem last Christmas when she bought me a stereo headset! Now I can turn up my stereo at high volumes without disturbing anybody. Pass this along. MICKY DEAR MICKY: Wearing a headset may protect other eardrums from being assaulted, but what about your own? Audiologists (specialists who test hearing) inform me that they are now seeing an alarming number of people with serious hearing impairment due to constant exposure to loud music. DEAR ABBY: How does one address mail to a husband and wife who are both doctors? MRS.J.F. DEAR MRS. F.: Address mail to Drs. John and Jane Doe. Getting married?
