Hints from Heloise
DEAR HELOISE: As a recent widow, and being completely alone, I’ve tried to figure out how to dean the coils on the back of my refrigerator since I can’t move it. It was long neglected during my husband's long illness. Then I got an idea. I used a long-handled car brush (the kind you use to wash the car with) to dean the inside and outside of the coils. It fit easily although the refrigerator is close to the wall. You can even spray a little dust remover on the brush before you use it. I cleaned the wires and tubes by the coils also. It did an excellent job for a woman alone. Joyce Blankenship ★ * * We can certainly do a lot of things when we have to, but looks like you are a very respureeful person so just haijg in there you’ve got it mape. sheets that pantyhose are wrapped around when you buy them? 1 Well, people usually throw them away. I save them! With the cost of paper, or those scribble tablets for kids, you can’t afford to cast them aside. They make great scratch pads for notes to remember, shopping lists, or for the kids to draw on. You can’t complain about the cost free! Rita Medley ★ ★ * DEAR HELOISE: When our 18-month-old slammed her tiny fingers in the door, I was struggling with her to keep ice on her hand for the thirty minutes that the doctor advised. To make it easier, I filled a large mixing bowl with half water and half ice and‘put a few small toys such as miniature plastic cars in the dish. Andrea loved trying to grab them out of the icy water, forgot how cold it was and the half hour went by smoothly and in a hurry. Colette Bernica
