Edgar Yeager Edgar L. Yeager, 78, S. Whitcomb, Indianapolis, passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon. Born May 29, 1898 in Mauckport, Ind. he taught at Indiana University from 1923 to 1946. He lived on a farm in Brick Chapel from 1946 to 1958 and taught at Butler University from 1958 to the present. Surviving are his wife Irene M. Yeager of Indianapolis and a son Charles D. Yeager of Dallas. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the Flanner and Buchanon Funeral home in Speedway, 2950 N. High School Road. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the North United Methodist Church, 3808 N. Meridian, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Muncie. The family asks that memorials be made in the form of donations to the Butler Development Fund, Edgar L. Yeager Memorial Library.

Obituaries

Ida Leisure Ida Leisure, 93, Coatesville, died Tuesday at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home. Born in Hendricks County, she was the daughter of Silas Cline and Dorcas Buis. Mrs. Leisure was married to Edward DePew, who died in 1906; Harve Wilson, who died in 1920; and Burl Leisure, who died in 1964. A retired assistant postmistress at the Coatesville Post Office, she was a member of the Coatesville Primitive Baptist Church; and the Coatesville Eastern Star.

A nomination submitted by the nominee or her family should be disqualified. The (county) Jane Award Committee and the executive committee of the County Extension Homemakers will serve as judges. The presentation of the award will be made in April at a public meeting.

She is survived by a son, Walter DePew, Route 1, Greencastle; a brother, Hershel Cline, Coatesville. Also surviving are two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m., at the Weaver Funeral Home with . the Rev. Wayne Kivett officiating. Burial will be in the Stilesville Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m., Thursday.

Sheriff’s Department A one-car accident in Russellville Tuesday night resulted in personal injuries and an estimated $2,600 damage to the 1972 automobile involved. Deputy Sheriff Dave Young reported that Mickell W. Spencer, 19, Russellville, driver of the car suffered facial injuries. A passenger, Gary R. Lane, 19, also of Russellville, suffered a possible broken arm. He feels that he accomplished and learned many things including how to live with nature and to come closer to God. “A TRIP OF THIS nature makes one appreciate people and learn mutual respect in that success is accomplished only as a group,” Schoenfeld observed. Schoenfeld feels that an adventure of this kind has one extra selling point in that it is “learning under stress.” This kind of learning is very lacking in our society today, but is a true learning situation. His job now is to incorporate all of his experiences into the classroom and maybe help get back to that true learning situation.

In hospital Gene Hinkle, driver of Greencastle school bus 19, is in the Putnam County Hospital suffering from a fractured hip. The injury occurred just before noon Tuesday when Hinkle slipped in the loft of the bus barn and fell approximately 10 feet.
