will be able to savor a service that includes elements from a liturgy dating back to the early centuries of Christendom as well as elements born of the Arab experience of Protestantism and Catholicism. World Day of Prayer provides an occasion for participation in a nationwide offering which goes into a fund called Intercontinental Mission-the process by which Church Women United carries forward its stewardship through annual grants to agencies around the world in these five major concerns: higher education for women in overseas Christian colleges; preparation and distribution of Christian literature for women
Commissioner S-Continued from page 1 BECK SAID SNYDER mentioned the insurance would probably be like that for the county’s sheriff department vehicles. Snyder was asked by the commissioners to find out how much insurance would cost for three or four county emergency service vehicles. Also on hand at the session were residents from the Doc James Road-Dunbar bridge area who asked the commissioners when work would get underway for repair of the Dunbar bridge. A semi-trailer truck struck the structure last year damaging a corner of the bridge. THE COMMISSIONERS TOLD the group the bridge is under contract for repairs through the insurance company for the structure. They said they had been informed work was to get underway soon but that they did not know when. QUESTIONS WERE ALSO asked by the group of some 12 residents as to the possible resurfacing of the Doc James Road and Beck said the commissioners could not answer the question at this time due to the cuts forced in the highway budget. Beck said the commissioners would have to wait and see on the matter. Pointing to the county highway budget, Beck noted that $35,000 in stone had been hauled in January for county roads and he noted that the amount was high for January. But he added there is no way to tell when the stone is to be needed, “if it has to be hauled you have to haul it,” he said.

WFIU — Continued from page 1 professor of telecommunications, will direct the research. The grant also funds the development of a new technique for estimating radio audience reaction to changes in program format and scheduling. Unlike major market stations which use regular audience ratings, special format stations like WFIU, according to Agostino, have no systematic way to monitor the size and preferences of the audience. According to Glass, the research will indicate what and of radio shows people in the area want to hear and how groups of different preferences can be served by one public radio station. Besides Glass and Agostino, Ken Ksobiech, assistant professor of telecommunications, and Herbert Seitz, supervisor of WFIU and WTIUTV, will work on the study. The Institute is currently active in basic and applied communication research supported by policy and industry groups.

NARASIContinued from page 1 growth in Nashville, there is an ever increasing number of new jobs for young people who are educationally qualified for them,” said Professor Robert Grocock of DePauw’s School of Music and coordinator of Romersa’s visit. NARASI, Grocock said, is the educational arm of the recording industry. It was created to help initiate programs to bring together creative personnel from both the music industry and educational institutions. Romersa’s trip to DePauw is part of the University’s Carreers in Business and Public Service program aimed at providing career-oriented educational opportunities within the liberal arts context. Romersa will discuss the development of a combined music and business major and how supervised internships related to students’ career interests could be established. This music-business lecture is a part of DePauw’s larger program for developing careers in business and public service -and is supported by Lilly Endownment, Inc. Dr. Earl Willhoite of Shawnee Press Publishing Company spoke earlier this year on careers in music publishing. Coan— Continued from page 1 qualified professionals to enter a vital field much sooner than was heretofore possible.” Before this program was begun, pharmacy students in Indiana were required to serve a period of internship after graduation before qualifying to take the pharmacy licensure examination. Purdue and Butler University, which have the only pharmacy schools in Indiana, worked with the Indiana Pharmaceutical Association and the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy in developing the new concept, Tyler said. He noted that it was one of the first in the country in which pharmacy students’ training was re-structured in recognition of the fastdeveloping patient-care needs of today’s society.
