How to keep well RXfor tension
By T.R. Van Dellen, M.D. Mrs. T.R. from Teaneck, N.J., writes: “Two of our closest friends consider any form of recreation (watching TV, listening to classical music, reading or just daydreaming) a waste of time. We can’t figure out if they are physical culturists, or just too nervous to sit still. How do doctors feel about leisure?” Your frieiwis seem to mistake leisure for laziness. Most of us agree that once the mad rush is over, it is necessary to sit down, relax and recharge one’s

An opening bid of one of a suit in general indicates 12 to 21 high-card points. Because this is an exceedingly wide range, the opener at his second turn to bid is under a strong obligation to define the quality and nature of his hand. He does this by making a minimum rebid on a minimum hand, by making a maximum rebid on a maximum hand, or by making an in-between bid on an in-between hand. This hand—with four quick tricks and attractive distribution—is not a minimum to

batteries. Indeed, using leisure as a tension reliever should be incorporated into our lives. Each of us deserves some freedom to do as he or she wishes. The free time gained through shorter working hours and the use of labor-saving devices should be used by people to do anything that gives them satisfaction. Some of us have to play something or exercise. Others, like yourself, may just enjoy reading. Adults with nothing to do in their spare time are lost souls. New worlds have been opened to men and women who have
begin with, and it furthermore rises materially in value when partner responds in clubs. A slam is now a distinct possibility, and these glad tidings are best conveyed by a jump-raise in clubs. 2. Three notrump. Here, also, there are values well beyond a minimum opening bid. The leap to three notrumD inmates 17 to 19 high-card points as well as a notrump type of hand. 3. Two spades. All hands rise or fall in value as the bidding progresses. Thus, had partner responded two spades, you would have the values for a jump to four spades. Hands that fit well rise sharply in value. In the same way, hands that fit badly depreciate in value. While two clubs is a constructive response showing 10 or more points, it does not help

Is this normal for my age? I am asking becasue my doctor said that if continues much longer I will have to have a hysterectomy. Why would surgery be necessary?” Twenty-five per cent of women menstruate until the age of 50 or older. In some

Two diamonds (forcing). Here the major effort is directed towards describing your 5-1-4-3 distribution. You plan to raise clubs at the next opportunity and, in this wayhaving bid spades, diamonds and clubs identify the singleton (or void) in hearts. The 17 high-card points and club fit appear to justify a jump rebid, but this can best be deferred until later on, after painting a picture of the distribution. Slow and steady wins the race.
women, late menopause seems to run in families. As long as your periods are normal and the uterus remains normal in size, you really have nothing to worry about, other than the monthly bleeding. QUESTION OF DIAGNOSIS H. writes: “How is tumor of the bladder diagnosed?” Bladder tumor diagnosis involves the use of a cystoscope, or viewing instrument, and removal of a small piece of tissue - a biopsy - - for laboratory study. The procedure is called a cystoscopy and is not a complicated or serious operation. TOMORROW: Burning feet syndrome Dr. Van Dellen welcomes reader questions. (c) 1975 by The Chicago Tribune World Rights Reserved It happens all the time: you’re washing a child’s hair, or a youngster is pouring herself a glass of milk, or you’re about to give your floor a good scouring with ammonia, when suddenly, the bottle slips from wet fingers onto the floor. But this time nothing breaks. Now an increasing number of home, car, and personal care products, as well as many foods, are being packaged in safe, sanitary plastic containers, reports the Plastic Bottle Institute. These bottles can’t shatter and are much less likely to slip out of hands, since they often have moldedin handles or ribbed sides for easy hanJ'ing.

WORRY CLINIC
Beth’s confession is proof of the pudding! So if you wives have alcoholic husbands, be sure to employ Beth’s strategy. For your “boudoir cheesecake” beats all of John Barleycorn’s alcoholic concoctions! CASE C-677: Beth X., aged 36, is the wife of a movie actor who had become a chronic alcoholic. “Dr. Crane,” she phoned me 3 months after my visit to Los Angeles, “I thought you’d be glad to have my follow-up report. “You may recall telling me that drunken husbands are often afraid of their wives in the bedroom, lest we wives suspect them of being impotent. “Well, that hadn’t entered my head before, but the more I mulled over your suggestions, the more I realized you were correct. “So I decided to see if I couldn’t sedu e my own husband and thus banish his terror about being permanently platonic. "As a result, I streamlined my figure by 20 pounds till I regained my bridal weight of 122. "Then I bought one of those slinky diaphanous nighties that you have often mentioned. “But I also shifted perfumes and even had a new hairdo. “I could see that my husband was perking up in his attention to me, at least during the day or early evening. 'But still he tried to act indifferent at night. “So 1 hid his whiskey one night, to knock that alcoholic crutch out from under his scared male ego. “He was frightened when we entered our bedroom, and that’s when I fully began to appreciate your frequent comments about the terror a platonic husband has, lest his wife learn his real trouble. “As we lay in bed, I snuggled against his shoulder, but he tried to push me over to my side. “But I kept up my romantic teasing and initiated our kissing.

"And when he still remained passive, I recalled your advice that there is no Emily Post in the boudoir to dictate a wife’s behavior. “Also, I recalled your statement that a ‘Call’ girl could make almost any impotent husband perform. “So I figured no ’Call’ girl was going to beat my time, for this was my own legal husband and I loved him with all my heart. “Besides, I now felt sure he loved me but was merely addicted to an inferiority complex that inhibited his libido. “Well, I quickly proved what you said a ‘Call’ girl could accomplish! “Now we are ideally in love and he has lost his appetite for liquor, for he rushes home instead of stopping at taverns. “Thanks, Dr. Crane, and tell other wives to follow my example.” BOUDOIR CHEESECAKE Wives, your "boudoir cheesecake” will beat all of John Barleycorn’s alcoholic concoctions! But even when you adopt all the cosmetic devices that Beth employed, your husband may still.act indifferent if he is terrified about impotence. For fear will reduce erotic passion even to zero. So you must banish his dtead that he can’t function, for most husbands feel it would be fatal to their erotic ego if their wife actually realized they couldn’t function with her in the boudoir. Indeed, some young bridegrooms actually commit suicide rather than let their wives know they are inhibited by some emotional quirk that renders them platonic even on their honeymoon! So send for my booklet “How to Stop the Liquor Habit,” enclosing a long stamped, return envelotre, plus 25C. (Always write to Or. Crane in care ot this newspaper, enclosing a tong stamped, addressed envelope and JS cents to cover typing and printing costs when you send tor one of his booklets.)

SANFORD AND SON. “MY BROTHER - IN -LAW’S KEEPER.”. Fred’s bigotry hangs out tonight when his favorite sister arrives with her new husband who happens to be white. Worse yet, new brother-in-law is a warm, exuberant horseplayer. The story has Fred changing colors like a chameleon, with Redd Foxx trying to gear up the proper amount of outrage over his polar bear relative, only he’s really quite tame. 8:00 PM (26) CHICO AND THE MAN. “SAMMY STOPS IN.” Sammy Davis Jr. in his Stutz Black Hawk pulls into the garage for repairs and has the regulars doing nip-ups. Grouchy Ed Brown plays it in his usual grumbling manner, but Chico and Louie, the garbageman, immediately launch into song auditions. Davis seems to be the straight man here, while Freddie Prinze and Scat Man Crothers apply the energy. 8:30 PM (2-6) SUSPENSE DRAMA. “ADVENTURES OF THE QUEEN.” A mini-holocaust by special effects king Irwin (“Ppseidon Adventure”, “Towering Inferno”) Allen. It’s the old bomb plot set on a cruise ship, to which Allen adds a whiz-bang explosion, followed by a dazzling fire and rescue number. The special effects crew deserves top billing above the actors, and viewers will enjoy exploring the Queen Mary, site of the drama. Robert Stack, Ralph Bellamy, David Hedison, Bradford Dillman head the cast. 9:00 PM (8-10) THE ROCKFORD FILES. “CHARLIE HARRIS AT LARGE.” The characters we meet tonight are just offbeat enough to hold our interest, even though there’s nothing deserving about any of them. For example, playboy Charlie (Tony Musante), accused of killing his wealthy wife, goes to his former prison cellmate Jim Rockford for help. For alibi, Charlie refuses to identify the woman he’d been with, but our pal Jim discovers who she
