Tippecanoe Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 met for lunch at Gray’s Cafeteria in Mooresville on October 26. Following the lunch the chapter met at the “Old Cemetery" in Mooresville
where they dedicated a Government Marker at the grave of Samuel Harryman, a Veteran of the War of 1812. Boy Scout Troop No 230 of Mooresville furnished the color guard and a bugler for Taps for
Miss Cline hosts Thursday Club
Daughters of 1812 meet at Gray's
Miss Mamie Cline was hostess ot the October 3 Thursday Club. Thirteen members were present. A carry-in luncheon was enjoyed by all. After the luncheon hour was over the meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Dorothy Rice. The Song “America’
followed by prayer by Mrs. Aster man Pledge to the flag was given by the group. The devotion was given by the president reading a poem entitled “God is Everywhere” followed by the treasurer report Cards were sent to the side. The roll call was answered
the dedication ceremony. Other participating in the ceremony were Mrs. S.C. Craver, president of Tippecanoe Chapter; Mrs. William J. Boatright, a past president of the chapter;
by each one telling of some Halloween prank they played when they were young. Mrs. Alkire won the door prise. The menus were selected for the next month. Gifts were distributed by the hostess.
Charles Sears, a great-great-great-great-grandson of Samuel Harryman and a member of Athey Society C.A.R.; Mrs. Stanley F. Sears, state president of the United States Daughters of 1812; and William J. Boatright, a great-great-grandson of Samuel Harryman. Other descendants at the ceremony were Paul Boatright of Indianapolis, Sterling Boatright and Mrs. Pauline Ikamire of Greencastle, and John C. Sears, and Rebecca Sears of Fillmore. After the ceremony at the cemetery, the chapter members met at the home of the
president Mrs. S.C. Graver for a brief business session and a social hour while Mr. Craver entertained the husbands who were present.
