The Greencastie Federation, Business and Professional Women observed the National BPW Week last night with a dinner at the DePauw Student Union and a production of “Switched at the Crossroads,’’ a melodrama

New grills were purchased in 1972 by the P.T.C. for the Pancake Supper which made it possible to serve over 1250 people efficiently last year.

Hetser retires

James O. (Jim) Hetser retired recently after completing 20H years with IBM. A senior machine repair technician, Hetser was honored at a department luncheon at the IBM plant. In addition to the gift of a sterling silver bowl presented by Production Manager Henry Love on behalf

of the company, Hetser received a fishing outfit (complete with fly-decorated hat) from the members of Dept. 710, Machine Maintenance. Hetser and his wife, Helen, reside at 105 N. Locust in Greencastie.

Obituary Audrey Coates

Mrs. Audrey M. (Coates 69, 612 frown Street, died Tuesday evening in the Putnam County Hospital after an extended illness. Born May 18, 1905 in Greencastie, she was the daughter of Albert N. and Ethyl (Kirby) Sample. Mrs. Coates was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Nelson Coates in 1960. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (An-

ne tta) Woods, of Atlanta, Georgia. Also, two sons, Robert N. Coates Jr., and David Coates, New Castle. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Carl (Thelma) Calhoun of Greencastie. Services will be Friday at 2 pm., at the Rector Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Hofferbert. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm., today.

Mrs. Martin, assistant director of the Vigo County Public Library, says the federal grant of $4,630 was awarded the Commission under the provisions of the Library Services and Construction Act, through the Extension Division of the Indiana State Library. She says the funds provide for clerical assistance, postage, telephone, supplies and other expenses of the group during the planning year.
