Queen Contestant — One of five children, this North Putnam graduate has an older sister who is an airline stewardess, two older brothers and a young brother who Ann laughingly says is “spoiled rotten.” Professing to live on the most beautiful farmland in the area, Ann is joined there by a Blue Russian cat named Levi (He’s a maniac and cute”), and a dog Pepper (He’s the best dog anyone could ever have”), and goldfish that have no name. While in high school, this brown-eyed brownette was a member of Art Club and Thespians. In “Annie Get

— Continued from page oneYour Gun” she had the lead of Annie Oakley and she may be recognized as Meg from “Damn Yankees.” This summer Ann is working at the State Office Building in Indianapolis where she corrects vehicle registrations. With her free time she enjoys sewing, embroidery, painting, pencil drawing, cooking and “anything I can do with my hands.” Ann also mentioned that she liked to sine, but quickly added that “I like to sing for myself, not for people!” Ann entered the fair queen contest because “I was talked into it.” Through it she hopes

to gain friends and experience. “Everything 1 do helps me grow. 1 wondered if I could do it and where it could get me if I did do it.” With a different philosophy towards the pageant than most, Ann is honestly open about her feelings. She wishes that the other contestants would make more suggestions so that every girl could appear as an individual. Ann is not worried about appearing differently on stage during the contest for she feels this makes her original and unique. “I want to stick out like a sore thumb.”
