Bright Spot Coming To Pediatrics Room Children in the pediatrics room at the Putnam County Hospital will have a bright spot added to their world soon. The brightness will be supplied by a mural depicting children’s stories that will be hung on the south wall of the
room.
The painting of Hans Christian Andersen stories was done by three DePauw University students for their commercial design and illustration class. Having donated the work to the hospital, the students said they painted stories with humor in them to help cheer up the young patients. “We included such stories as the “Ugly Duckling” and the “Little Mermaid,” Kim Carr, one of the three artists said. State Awards May Be Record For Jaycees Greencastle Jaycees received what is believed to be for them a record number of state awards at the Indiana Jaycee State Convention held in Evansville this past weekend.

Dr. Bryan Clemens, former dean of students at Purdue University, will teach the Adult Division of Daily Vacation Bible School at the Greencastle First Baptist Church June 3-7. Dr. Clemens recently resigned his post at Purdue to give more time to the ministry and to serve as a high school counselor. In past years he has served as supply pastor of the local First Baptist Church and was the speaker at the 1973 Putnam County 4-H Fair vesper services. He has

The Ladies* Auxiliary and Fathers’ Auxiliary of the VFW Post 15MJ will be selling buddy poppies on the Greencastle square during shopping hours Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25. The local chapter took first place in their population division in three categories--Spiritual Development, Environment and Senior Citizens; second place in three areas- Membership Recruitment, Education and Population Growth and third place in two others-Membership Retention, Activation and Orientation and in Drug Abuse. Attending the convention from the Greencastle chapter were Dave and Jean Young, Don Calhoun, Perry and Connie Wainman, Carl and Mary Gierke, Dave and Kathy Patterson, Lloyd and Joyce Wells, Gerald and Amy Hutcheson, Tom and Becky Lee, Don and Sharon Cochran and Brad Bemis. Bemis was honored as an outgoing Region Five vice president and Young, the outgoing president of the Greencastle chapter, was installed as a new Region Five vice president. He will work with the following chapters during the coming year: Rockville, Four Arrests Reported Edward E. Shuck, 21, Route 3, Greencastle, was arrested by local officers at 4:50 this morning and lodged in the Putnam County jail. Shuck was taken into custody at the intersection of Bloomington and Apple Streets and booked for driving while under the influence of intoxicants, fleeing a police officer and reckless driving. Rouse Here Thursday Seventh District Congressman John Myers announced today that his District Representative, Robert Rouse, will be in Greencastle on Thursday, May 30 to discuss with local constituents any problems or questions they might have. Congressman Myers said Mr. Rouse will meet individually with persons between 11 and noon in the Putnam County Courthouse. No appointments are necessary. Congressman Myers said such local meetings will be scheduled on a regular basis to help those with particular problems they wish to bring to his attention. The Seventh District office located in Room 107 of the Federal Building in Terre Haute is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. till noon on Saturday.
Local Teen-Agers Selected For World Youth Conference
The Greencastle Church of the Nazarene has announced that Brenda Greenlee and Clifton Hofferbert were selected by the Southwestern Indiana District Nazarene Youth Council to be part of the delegation of Indiana teens representing our state at the World Youth Conference, which is being held at Fiesch, Switzerland. There will be more than 2,000 representatives from nations around the world attending this International event, which begins in June, 1974. This Christian, teen-cen-tered conclave is a quadrennial event sponsored by the Nazarene Young People’s Society, an auxiliary of the Church of the Nazarene. wifi headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.

Open Class Judging
Rules and regulations for the 1974 Putnam County 4-H Fair open class exhibits for women have been announced.
Included inthe listing of bylaws is that entries are to be brought to the 4-H Community Building between 8 and 11 on Monday morning, July 29. Other rules and regulations include: •Entries in open class exhibits are limited to present residents of Putnam County or must be a member of a Putnam County Extension Homemakers Club if residing out of county. Exhibit must be the work of the exhibitor and shown in her own name. All entries in the culinary department must be home made. • Exhibitors may make entries in as many classes as they desire: but only one entry can be made in any one class. • Entry will not be accepted for articles for which there is no classification; an article can be entered in one class only. • Entries close July 22, 1974. No substitution or additional entries may be made after closing date. • Judges shall not award prizes to unworthy exhibits whether there is competion or not, nor shall they award premiums on articles .incorrectly entered or incorrectly named. • All exhibits will be released Friday August 2, after
10:00 p.m. and not before. Food exhibits will be disposed of if necessary. • Article should have been made during past year. • Contests are open to nonprofessionals only. • All exhibits will receive ribbons but no premiums. • Portions of pies and cakes will be displayed and the remainder may be picked up after 5 on July 29th. Fashion Show
In other fair news, rules for the Homemakers Fashion Show were also released. The show will be held Tuesday evening. July 30, at the inside arena at the fairgrounds beginningat 7 p.m. Judging of the garments will go a week earlier on July 23. Rules are: • Garments modeled must have been made by the contestant since Sept. 1,1973. • Contestant may enter in only one category. • Contestant must reside in the county in which she participates. • Garments to be worn in the State Homemakers Fashion Show cannot be exhibited for construction at the state fair. • Each county may send one entrant in each category
for each division (A maximum total of 24 entrants per county.) • Contestant should enter her garment (s) in the category most suitable. • Any suitable fabric or
technique (knitting, crocheting, hand-weaving, etc.) • Any length suitable for the occasion may be used any category. Please turn to page 2, co.
Chamber Drive Reports In Tomorrow
Chamber of Commerce teams, who participated in the organization’s first annual membership drive, will be turning in their reports Wednesday, May 22, James N. Cook, president of the chamber, has announced. The membership affair began with a breakfast Monday morning at Putnam Inn and was attended by 25 persons. In charge of the meeting was
