At the recent Greencastle District Meeting of United Methodist Women held at the Rockville United Methodist Church, April 29, nine women from the Cloverdale United Methodist Church attended the meeting including Martha Stewart, Agnes Stwalley, Zella Hedrick, Mary Logan, Esther Fry, Liza Shumaker, Karen Curtice and Victoria Franklin. Coffee was served at 6:30 p.m and the program was held from 7 to 9 p.m. The theme of the program was “Many Gifts, One Spirit.” There was a “Do Your Own Thing” endeavor where all the ladies participated including the Cloverdale church ladies who displayed banners of the study of the Book of Luke, afghans.

Anniversaries include: May 2, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Haltom; May 12, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Steele, one year. May 2, Mrs. Lura Jones entertained the Oakgrove Baptist Ladies Mission Circle with nine members and five guests present. Devotions were given by Mrs. Claude Winders. Following the call to order given by the club president, Beulah Rubeck, Mrs. Bessie Gibson gave the secretaries report followed by the treasurers report given by Dorothy Winders. Mrs. Lewis Gray reported on the highlights of the Friendship Association Womens Spring Conference which was held in the Spencer First Baptist Church, and she also gave a review on mission work in Thailand. Roll call was answered by each member giving a poem or story related to their mothers. Following the meeting, the hostess served a chicken dinner. Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson
and daughter, Kim were Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Hinote and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Milligan. In the afternoon, cake and ice cream were served in honor of Mr. Thompson’s birthday, which was May 6. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baer of Frankfort, were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Kennedy. Saturday afternoon, Mrs. Charlene Lee sponsored a stork shower in honor of Mrs. Kathy Lee Foster. Following games and contest, the hostess served pink punch, nuts, mints and cake, which was decorated in colors of pink, white and blue. The table cloth was decorated with blocks in pastel colors and a center decoration of pastel blocks with a small girl wearing a large flowered bonnet and dress of blue and white. Mrs. Foster received many lovely gifts. Kevin Patten was displaying a mushroom at Smith Farm Machinery, Monday, that he and his brother Kenny found, which weighed over two pounds and was nine and a half inches in length. Mrs. Floyd Davis of Hardeyville, Ky. passed away Monday morning and her funeral will be held Wednesday in Hardeyville. Mrs. Davis, a former Cloverdale resident and sister-in-law of Chester Davis, passed away follow ing an extended illness. Rev. and Mrs. Warren
Todd and Mrs. Todd’s mother, Mrs. Fisher, have moved to the Cunot area. They are former Indianapolis residents. Mr. and Mrs. Glee Truesdel returned to their rural home Sunday after spending the winter months in Weslaco, Texas. Mrs. Ruth Neier has returned home following a two weeks visit with Mrs. Barbara Bates and family in Rockford, 111. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Buis of Mooresville, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fry of Gosport and Mrs. Lester Payne were Sunday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Jordan of rural Quincy. Weekend houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Williams were Mr. and Mrs. Vestal Tate of Ladoga. Amy Jo Williams spent Wednesday afternoon with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Williams. The Cloverdale High School Alumni Banquet will be held June 1 in the new gymnasium with registration at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The Quincy High School Alumni Banquet will be held June 8 at the Cloverdale Community Building. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. and the pitch-in at 7 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Thompson , Mrs. Aubrey Moore were Sunday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Paugh.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Neeley of 913 N, Madison, Greencastle, wish to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Donna to Mike Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mitchell of Van Bibber Lake. Miss Neeley is a graduate of Greencastle High School and is employ ed by Angwell Corp. Mr. Mitchell is a graduate of Manual High School in Indianapolis and is employ ed by the County Highway. A wedding on June 22 at 2:30 p.m. is being planned. The wedding will be in the ( hurch of Nazarene, Greencastle, with Rev. Doyle Hofferbert officiating.
