Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Frye, Route 1, Fillmore, annouce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Janet Sue, to Gary Lee Clodfelter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Clodfelter, Route 1, Bainbridge. Miss Frye is a 1973 graduate of South Putnam High School and a graduate of Atlantic School of Kansas City, Missouri, Airline Personnel Training. Mr. Clodfelter is a 1966 graduate of Russellville High School and is employed with R.R. Donnelley and Sons Co., Crawfordsville. They will be united in marriage on Jan. 26, at 2:30 p.m. at the New Providence C hurch. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Miles of Bainbridge announce tiie engagement of their daughter, Loretta Jane, to Edward Duane Pingleton,theson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Pingleton of Greencastle. Miss Miles, a senior at North Putnam High School, upon graduation will attend the Bry man Porfessional Careers Institute to study medical assisting. Mr. Pingleton, a 1973 graduate of North Putnam, is attending ITT Technical Institute studying electronics technology and is employed at United Parcel Service in Indianapolis. A May 24 wedding is planned.

Club 16 met Wednesday evening with Mrs. Joe Liechty. Fourteen members enjoyed the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. George Partner of New Ross visited Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Leonard. Mrs. Daisy Youngerman left Saturday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Larry Westenhofer. Mrs. Westenhofer has been a patient in Methodist Hospital since Jan. 3. Mrs. Gwen Huffman has returned from Florida where she spent a month visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Picket moved over the weekend into their new home southwest of Fillmore. General C.W.F. will meet Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. Boy Scouts will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Christian Church. In spite of cold weather and hazardous roads about 80 people attended the called meeting at the Fillmore Christian Church of Pack % scouts Thursday, Jan. 10, when Congressman John Myers was special guest. He gave a short talk on scouting, then presented the pack with an American flag which had flown at the Capitol on Sept. 19, 1973. He presented the flag to the First scout, and it was then passed down the line to every scout. The old 48 star flag, which the pack had been using, was given to Mrs. Vangie House, Den Motherfor Den 2. A short program was given during the ceremonies. During the year Den 2 had made flags, and each scout showed the one he had made and gave its history. After the program, ConNew Arrival Mr. and Mrs. Earle Talley of Slidell, La., are the parents of a baby boy, Thomas Edward, born Jan. 14. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Holiday and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Zeller, all of Greencastle, are the grandparents of the 7 pound boy.

Vangie House and Sylvia Nichols, Den 2 Mothers, had 6 scouts present, Mark Nichols, Brent Meek, Steve McClure, Allen Pursell, Warren Evans, and Darrin Pursell. Margaret Pyke, Den Motherfor Den 1, had two present. Bill Pyke and Tommy Cooper. Webelos leader, Kenny Boyce, had 4 present, Todd House, Andy Henderson, Shawn Boyce and Chris Huber. Mrs. Karen Cooper, Girl Scout Leader had 6 Brownies present, Tammy Huller, Margaret Cooper, Winnie Arnold, Christina Kesslar, Debby Ruark and Angie Cox. Ray Allen Nichols, Boy Scout Leader, had the majority of his 14 members present. Several members of the Lions Club were present. They are sponsors of the

scouts.

Mrs. Marie Davis and daughter, Lisa, of Baltimore. Md. spent New Years vacation with her mother, Mrs. Herbert Zeiner. Mr. and Mrs, Curtis Robinson spent Sunday evening, Jan. 6, at the home of M r. and Mrs. Jack Jones in Roachdale. Mrs. Robinson enjoyed her birthday cake and ice cream with their 5 children and families. The Mothers Club met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Ray McGinnis. ished the entertainment and Mrs. Caroline Ozment and Mrs. Margaret Robinson won prizes. The hostess served refreshments. The Fillmore United Methodist Church School is planning a three year study of the Bible. For the next three months they will start with Genesis 1 through Exodus 15. Everyone is welcome to attend. Sue Martin entered Hendricks County Hospital Wednesday, Jan. 9, with pneumonia. Mrs. Inez Pruett is a patient in Putnam County Hospital. ambulance. Her daughter, Judy Ozment, of Virginia came Friday to help. U.M.W. cancelled their January meeting Thursday because of hazardous roads. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hudson have been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hudson and family. He has been in the Navy since leaving Fillmore. Mr. and Mrs. C.J. HuHer and daughters, had a birthday party for his mother, Mrs. Avaril Huller. Ottttr guests were Mrs. Carl Youngerman and Mrs. Charles F. Smith. Both Fillmore elementary and South Putnam High School were closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, because of hazardous roads. However, the basketball teams went to Rockville Friday night and both the Bteam and varsity team defeated the Rockville teams.

Mr. and Mrs. Noble Miller of Crawfordsville were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Miller. In the afternoon they visited with Mrs. Clara Overstreet, Mrs. Claude Job and Mrs. Nora Smith in the Asbury Towers in Greencastle. Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hazlett attended a belated Christmas dinner Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Childress in Crawfordsville. Mrs. Florence Compton returned home Thursday after several weeks visit with her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Rund and family in Owatonna, Minnesota. She reported a lot of snow out there too. North Putnam schools were closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week due to slick roads. The C.W.F. Missionary of the Russellville Christian Church was postponed this week due to the weather conditions. Many residents who are employed in Crawfordsville were stranded there last week due to the weather and road conditions. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Grimes spent Saturday night in Greencastle with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Grimes. John was off work last week due to illness. Mrs. Vera Hopper was taken to Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle Saturday evening for tests and xrays after a fall on the ice at the church Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Zella Clark was pleasantly surprised at a supper Saturday night for her birthday. Attending were her husband, Roy, and daughter, Eva Ferguson, all of Mrs. Clark’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ferguson and child-

ren of Waveland, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ferguson and son of near Milligan, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lieske of Russellville. Dr. Ron Chaplin’s father, Leo Chaplin of Bloomingdale, was injured recently while at work placing a fuse on a transformer. It shorted, and he fell 25 feet. He was taken to the Clinton Hospital and it was found he has a broken pelvis and three broken ribs. He will remain in the hospital for several weeks. Mrs. Eva Harbison received word from Margaret Allen of Terre Haute that she is out of the hospital and back home again after a long illness and an operation. She is feeling much better. The Town Board met in the home of Vera Hopper Monday night due to weather conditions. Relatives in Russellville have received word of the death of Albert L. Steinmeir of Indianapolis. He is the husband of Mrs. Fannie (Wilson) Steinmeir. He passed away Thursday in the hospital. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Dorothy, a son, Fredrick, both of Indianapolis, one grandson and one great grandson. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Otis Clodfelter of Russellville and the late Tarney Wilson. Funeral services were held Monday in Indianapolis with burial there. Mrs. Bea Hazlett, Mrs. Grace Coleman and Mrs. Grace Harbison planned a surprise Thursday morning at the Bellemore Cafe for Mrs. Grace Holiday’s 91st birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Klein and family of Sylvania, Ohio were called here this week because of the sudden death of his father, Charles Klein. They returned to their homes in Ohio Saturday evening.
